Hi Everyone,

Middle of Summer, anybody hot and sweaty yet? Here in the swamps, with the humidity factored in, we're getting temps between 97 and 105 degrees. It goes up another 5-7 in August.

I just bought a used Steyr LP10 and consequently have been neglecting my IZH 46, spending whatever shooting time I have on the LP trying to get it dialed in. Broke my PR yesterday with a 510/600 in 10m. But, I did make time to get in another target today, so we're half-way home. Looking forward to seeing (and reading) from the rest of you.

I heard a funny quote made by the famous General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans when trying to direct the cannon fire of Jean Lafitte's pirates: "Elevate them guns a little lower boys!"

Try to Stay Cool, and Keep em' 10's!

Pah, not quite as hot or sweaty here by your standards mate, but still its reached 30C here today on the Bristol Channel, which is still a bit of a shock to a system used to more 12C, and as you can imagine the River Severn is having its say in the local humidity :( and i bloody hate the sun at the best of times.... Tiz why I thought about emergrating to Canada about 5 years ago,.... then the then GF twisted my arm hard enough to make her 'The Wife' and all plans of pastures greener were knocked in the head

As for keeping them 10s.... absalutely no chance sadly, I've gone backwards.... even had 2x 8s on the second set of targets, though I do have an excuss.... Would you believe I shot my pistol so much I've actually worn out the sear!?!?.....So currently breaking in a new one and it feel nothing like as smooth as the last one AND I've made/am making significant alterations to my garage, altering my range around so it should be better/safer in the long run, plus creating some extra storage space for the Mrs to fill with crap, and I now wont have to shoot over/round/through all my tool boxes and other associated detritus,.... even so its thrown me aim off by a country mile with both my pistol and Bell Target rifle.... thing is the modifications are still 'in progress' and its still to damned hot and sweaty in there to do any serious practice :( and holidays are up coming, so even less chance to practise.....

.... They always say the best excuses and lies are embroidered with an element of the truth :shifty:

Sean,

The element of truth I discern from your diatribe is that you had better stake out your portion of the garage for shooting before your wife gets in there!

Broke my second and last PR goal for the Summer today with the LP10. Shot a single target, 10 Meter Olympic style, score of 90/100. This proves that the potential is there, but unfortunately the odds of me averaging a 90 for 6 targets is at present way beyond me. Next goals are a 525/600 and breaking 90/100. Developing a shot plan that I repeat every shot has made a big difference too, which means that I probably could have done this well with the IZH. But, I took the shroud off of the LP10's barrel, installed a Nygord compensator, put on a short air cylinder, and added a 25 gram barrel weight for an LP2 to the tip of the barrel. Total gun weighs 900 grams on the nose. Soooooo much easier to hold on target than my IZH 46, and the various adjustments make it fit me much much better.

Regards All,
