Who Would be Interested in the 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition

Post by pmh » Sun May 05, 2013 2:42 pm

I am trying to gauge the potential interest in this competition.

An overview is as follows:-

Competition would be open to all shooters, and will be promoted from various clubs and forums.

6 rounds per competition, 1 round per month.

5 shots over 6 targets per round.

Standard "Air 8" 6 yard air pistol target.

Can be shot in a club environment or at home.

Scoring will be highest to lowest, over the number of competitors, but the scoreboard would be divided into divisions to give lower ability shooters a chance to win.

Entry packs will be available for each 6 month competition, containing all that is required, for a cost of £10

Entries can be handed in, posted or e-mailed.

This poll will be active for 30 days.

Kind regards,

Phil

On a positive point we are getting to the point where the rules have been fundamentally agreed and we should be in a position to announce the start date soon.

As one competition ends, another begins.

Great!

Looking forward to it. Summer sun and a few targets and pellets, bliss.

One more point of clarification.

When you say five shots over six targets on the Air 8 - do you mean five shots on EACH of the large targets on the sheet?

Need to start practising.

Still a toss up between my Gamo Centre or Walther LP53. I've decided to go with spring driven on this one, even though the score would probably be better with my SSP Compact.

Yes, five shots at each target.

There has - in my opinion - been a load of b*ll*cks about the rules but voicing your thoughts about choice of pistol, Gamo Centre or Walther LP53 exemplifies, in my opinion, the spirit of the rules. And in any postal competition that is the best you can wish for, the competitors compete within the spirit of the competition. In reality someone shooting a Walther LP 53 against a FWB65 - in the right hands, not mine! - stands little chance of "winning". It is about the competition.
I salute you sir and very much look forward to competing with you.
graham.
I’m going off to go find myself. If I’m not back by the time I return, keep me here.

Cheers, Tank.

I'm getting about 7/10 with the LP53 mostly, there's always the occasional flyer out in the 5's or 6's that brings down my average, but with a little practice and banning caffeine 24 hours before I shoot for the comp, I may be ok.

The Gamo Centre would be more reliable, but why the hell not use the LP53?

Roll on the comp!

The Centre is an excellent choice of gun, and a very capable one too.

You should do very well with this.

The targets were all stamped with the official competition stamp, this evening, and have been compiled into target packs ready to go.

Remember, the first month is June so, if you haven't already let zooma have your details, then please do so as quickly as possible.

Remember, entry packs are £10 for all you need for the full 6 months entry. Gun and pellets are, of course, not included. :happy-jumpyellow:

Entries have taken off very well so far, from both individuals and club members.

That said, we can never have to many shooters in such a prestigious competition so, the next time you are at your club, please mention it.

You could even put an evening, or two, a month to shooting 6 yard.

Kind regards,
