A great turn out!

Now that I have my new target holder supplied by Bob with LED's from Graham and my HW75 I will have no excuse but my own (lack of) skill for poor scores!

Im going to shoot my cards in a few weeks time when Ive been able to practice a bit more............

I put a post on the BBS thread "MPL 6 yard competition" earlier today explaining why the packs failed to leave yesterday as planned - (see below) :-

"Due to a fault with the Royal Mail online booking system that affected those with an O2 internet connection the entry packs were not sent out yesterday as planned.

Apparently (it is claimed by RM) that when Sky took over the O2 internet business this week they did not release the necessary security codes :naughty: (?) but hopefully this will be corrected today."

........................the Post Office seem to have semi-fixed fixed their problems today  ( albeit intermittently) and we were able to get them all booked out in-between the online booking failures, so they should all start to arrive tomorrow  .

Sorry about the delay - everything should arrive before the start of the month.........and there is still plenty of time for anyone that has not entered yet to let Phil know that I need to stamp and post some more entry packs out - no problem!

Thanks for that Bob. I've not done my usual round of the other forums yet since capa is top of my list, so hadn't read about RM's latest challenges.

.......still plenty of time to enter this superb 6 yard competition.

You have got until the end of this month to email your entry and pay your entry by PayPal ( £12.00 including postage for your entry pack) and we should be able to get your pack to you in a day or two so you can start shooting straight away.

Score your cards and email the results back to us at the end of the month.........simples !

The number of entrants continues to grow, and there is still plenty of time for all those shooters who fancy taking part.

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Divisions?

Post by pmh » Fri Jun 21, 2013 9:48 pm

Shooters may recall we did say we would look at splitting the Leader Board into divisions, in order to allow less skilled shooters to have a chance at winning.

Myself, Bob, and Graham briefly spoke about this the other night, and decided we would review this once July's results are known.

Once assigned to a division shooters will then stay in that division until the end of the competition.

Are there any thoughts/comments/or objections to this?

Kind regards,

Phil

Well you have heard my thoughts but I shall air them here. We have a multitude of shooters using a wide spectrum of guns and some of the people using vintage Non-Target type guns don't stand a prayer of coming towards the top.
I realise that the idea of "winning" is not something some of us are trying to achieve - the "doing" is far more important. However, if we break the competition participants into, say, three groups then we would have three division leaders and a better spread of ability/gun.
Just my thoughts.

Perhaps "Sense of achievement" would have been better than winning.

The divisions in the Dorset League certainly work well, and give all abilities/pistol combinations a chance.

I like the idea of giving "less skilled" shooters (such as myself) a little more encouragement

I'm all for fair divisions.

Are the divisions to be based on gun type?

I.E. Target SSP, Target Spring, Vintage spring etc?

Or will it be solely score based going on the first round.

I can see the advantages of the former more than the latter in a fair competition of this type.

Ultimately, I am just happy to enter my old gun in a target comp no matter where I come in the ranking. Firing 180 pellets over six months and having them all count will be ample pleasure.

July can't come soon enough.

Likewise, I am not really worried as to where I come in the results table - I simply enjoy taking part! :D
