So, I now have a pair of them, a .177 and a .22 cal. Yes, they are both cosmetically challenged but this situation will change shortly
Very interesting both. I forgot to get the serial numbers before I locked the workshop up - I will get them tomorrow. Let's just get right down to it:

Wondering why one grip has Webley on it and one is without.
A Brace of MkI's

I’m going off to go find myself. If I’m not back by the time I return, keep me here.

Re: A Brace of MkI's
Hi Graham,
Your Mk1s look like they might be very early post-war examples which would not have Ser Nos as Webley replaced unique Ser Nos with Batch Nos immediately after the war ended.
Pre-war 'Slant Grip' Mk1s would have had no 'splined knurling' along the barrel and plain grips without the Webley logo.
The pre-war pistols would also have a Ser No up to around 50,000, stamped into the left hand side of the frame just above the trigger guard. The post-war pistols carried Batch Nos stamped into front of the spring guide which unfortunately can't be used to date the pistols.
There would have been 'transitional' pistols to use up parts from the earlier model, so some early post-war examples occasionally turn-up with plain grips etc.
Good luck with the renovation.
Regards
Brian
