.177 Warrior Pistol with Serial No. 6038

Post by Valther TPH » Tue Aug 25, 2015 5:49 am

In John Griffith's excellent article in Airgun Collector Magazine entitled, "Eccentric Concentrics", it was mentioned that the highest serial number recorded for the Accles & Shelvoke Warrior air pistol (second series variant) is 5816.

The specimen I have bears serial number 6038.

Hi,

Thanks for posting this information. John Griffith's Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols still confirms the highest known Ser No for a second series Warrior to date is 5816. Based on this information, he also suggests that production would probably have ceased at 6000, but your pistol provides proof of manufacture beyond 6000.

Regards

Brian

A very nice find, and thanks for the information. This has now been put into the data base that I keep for vintage British air pistols. It is interesting that reports of the highest serial numbers of various vintage guns seem to be much rarer than for low and mid-range serial numbers, and yet it is the higher ones that should be the best survivors.

Hi,

I have quite a few rare British made spring powered air pistols Westley Richards (both models), Certus, Parker Hale, Anson, Lincoln Jeffries etc and can let you have the Ser Nos if of interest.

Thanks Brian That would be much appreciated. I may already have some of them from any of your previous internet postings, but no doubt there will be some I do not have in my data base.
Cheers,
John
