what should i do first

Post by rickybob » Fri Sep 30, 2016 5:40 pm

I just got this pre war Diana 5, missing rear sight as noted in another post, and was wondering what I should do first to it before shooting. I read one post against dry firing, oops, should have know better since archery is really my thing, but I only did it twice. so can anything be done if it's accidentally cocked.
but i'm really asking about cleaning, oiling, etc.

thanks

New piston and breach seals are probably the best starting point. You can examine the spring when removing the piston washer.

If it is accidentally cocked, just pull the barrel as far back as possible, squeeze the trigger, then let slowly back to closed. This is the only way to uncock. Failing that, pop a pellet in and fire it. That said, I'm not sure how a pistol can become accidentally cocked.

There are a few gun shops in England, that would more than likely have spares. Protek is a good place to start.

Kind regards,

Chambers are very good for this sort of thing, and a link to the very page, on their website, is here.
