Original Mod 5 foresight

Post by eredel » Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:25 am

I dislike the pointed foresight on my Mod 5...I would like a "square-topped" one.......would the complete foresight with its multi changeable elements off a Mod 6 fit the 5?
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards...Eric.

Do you have a picture of one - I might have something "in the box" you could try and maybe modify.

They both have a rail, but the Mod 6 sight also wraps around the barrel, the Mod 5 just sits in the real.

Not sure if you can replace the post or not.

Kind regards,

I don't think the post is replaceable that's why I'd like to fit a foresight with a swapable element type so all ideas much appreciated.
Just took a pic, hope it gives an idea.

The world is your oyster here Eric. Phil is the guy to ask as he has just bought a front sight element but you can get a whole variety of front sights for that. All with removable elements. Everything from ebay to Intershoot and everywhere in between.
How much do you want to spend is the question.

Here you go, just the job:

Yes, I am conscious of the height issues but not insurmountable I am sure.

Many thanks for that!......pity the pic doesn't show it front to back.
I'll seriously consider it, assuming that spare reticles are available and I keep the pistol as I'm getting the itch for a FWB 65 again!

I have a brand new one of these, along with the rear sight.

I got them for my Walther, then found an original set of sights before I fitted them.

They take the standard Anschutz reticules.

Kind regards,

Thanks for that info Phil.

If I decide to keep the pistol I'll get that one off the bay then get the right reticle if it doesn't come with it.

Mine came with a 4.4mm round.

Plenty of variations available though.

I bought the aforesaid foresight off the bay and fitted it last night.
It came with the round hole element in as Phils did and shooting it by positioning the round hole in the rearsight notch I was getting all in the the black so sightline has not been altered drastically.
I now need to decide which post width Anschutz element to purchase.

Be careful about over tightening.

Mine didn't last very long before splitting.

Hard to say whether it was a poor example, or poor design.

A nice straight post should be the best, but make sure you have a decent gap on each side.

Kind regards,

I understand where you're coming from about tightening as it's only a "plasticy" material but I had to tighten up fairly hard as it's a lively springer.
I'll sight up on the "hole" then judge how much to narrow and order a couple of elements in the range I judge to be about enough light either side "ifs ya know wot I means".

Just an update....ordered 4 post elements for the foresight this evening from Intershoot, 2mm to 3.4mm so think I've got the range I'll need covered!
I thought I may as well get a selection as they're only £2.50 each and if I'd decided at a later date I wanted other sizes the postage would have spoiled the fun.
I'll see which one suits when they arrive and post my findings on the offchance that someone may be interested....

It's always wise to have a range, especially if they are cheap enough.
