FAS 606

Post by zooma » Mon Mar 18, 2013 8:13 am

I have been fortunate enough to borrow an FAS 606 from Tank to photograph for bobsairguns.com

The 606 was exhibited in 1987 and went into production in 1988 and was discontinued in 1997.

Looking in the latest edition of the Blue Book of Airguns it is only valued at just over half the price of the FAS 604 ( still in production today), so it does not seem to have been too successful for FAS with a long production period, or valued very highly by the collectors.

From my point of view this is a surprise as I love it's quirky looks and the awkward pellet loading technique, and the very low barrel line is a great idea too.

The pistol also shoots very well and has a really nice trigger - and I want one!

Anybody have one for sale by any chance?

I love the gun. I have put maybe fifty pellets through it since I picked it up. It has that "Built like a Tank" feel and not the femme feel of some more modern ssp pistols. As Bob says, terrific trigger and nice, simple sights that just work. It also came with a choice of two front sight posts and you can't really go wrong with either.
It is pretty pedantic too - you have to go through the whole cocking loading procedure precisely or it just will not fire - not a bad thing really as this means there is no room for sloppiness in your shooting. It keeps me focused on the task at hand for sure.
It also filled the SSP gap in my collection.

no, sorry, not for sale I am afraid.

I’m going off to go find myself. If I’m not back by the time I return, keep me here.

Nah..............its not that good.

Your best bet is to sell it whilst you have the chance to dump it - and being a charitable sort of a chap I will help you out and take it now to save you worrying about it any more

Here are some pictures for Mr Tank to see - so he can remember what it looked like after he has sold it to me

I am surprised it never took off, though it's quirky loading sequence and the growth of PCPs might have contributed to it's lack of popularity.

Still, that makes it one of the rarer and more desirable collectables.

I am sure I'll get a go eventually, I just feel bad about out shooting a chap with his own gun!  :D

Kind regards,

The 103 is an odd beastie.

Whilst they shot very well indeed, I feel they are bigger and bulkier than they need to be.

Kind regards,

I will let you shoot my 103 - and you will change your mind.

The 103 is surprisingly light and well balanced, loads easily and is not at all hard to cock.

It is without doubt one of the finest air pistols ever made, very desirable and now very expensive and in huge demand.
