Crosman SA6 (Colt SAA)

Post by Ian » Wed Nov 14, 2012 5:10 pm

I bought this 1970's Crosman SA6 Colt SAA CO2 .22 pellet firer on a bit of a whim. To be honest I wasnt expecting much in the way of performance but when I tried it....well, what a suprise! It is remarkably accurate at 6 to 10 yards and seems quite powerful. Theres even a puff of CO2 from the front of the cylinder - great!

The CO2 cover is missing (a common problem) but I keep a CO2 bulb covered with black insulation tape in there to blend in with everything.

I believe that the grips fitted mark it out as a slightly rarer variant.

Yeeha.................

Never looked into this style much before.

How easy would it be to fashion a cover out of small bore plastic plumbing pipe?

Kind regards,

Phil

Pretty easy I think Phil - I may experiment a bit when I have some time

The alloy CO2 cover arrived today - it took just over a week which is quicker than I thought

Its a thin tube of alloy sheet that slips over the CO2 bulb before you install it - not quite what I was expecting, for some reason I thought it would slot into the CO2 recess. Its has a matt black finish and cost £5 so it hardly broke the bank!

The more I shoot this gun the more I like it - everything about it just feels ri

Glad to see your gamble with the cover paid off.

Is it an original or a replacement?

Kind regards,

Phil

Thanks Phil

The originals are made of plastic and most have either been lost or are broken 40+ years on! This is an alloy replica - a chap in the States makes them in small batches

Should last longer than the plastic version.

A quick wipe with a silicone cloth would take the matt to a matching shine.

Kind regards,

Phil
