.177 HW 45 Silver Star.

Post by zooma » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:33 pm

My own HW 45 Silver Star has had very little use from new and still looks, feels, and even smells like a brand new pistol.

As I have decided to sell it and let somebody else "run it in" I thought I would let you all see some pictures of this really nice pistol as I have not seen any on CAPA before so I wanted to share them with you before it goes.

This pistol would be "legal" for use in either of the MPL series ( 6 yard postal and 10 meter ) and has a really nice crisp trigger.

We relocated the pictures of my HW 45 Silver Star on bobsairguns last night so the original link no longer works - if you would like to see the pictures of it please try the new link below as I think it should be working again OK now:-

Nah - it's working fine - are you still clicking on the first posted link by any chance?

The new link on the second post is working OK - I just clicked on it again now to make sure it is still OK - and it works.

I will remove the first (non-working) link to prevent anybody trying to use it - and replace it with the new link so there will now be two places to find it

Maybe our next "mad half hour" at RMTC should see us all have a go with my Silver Star?

It would be just as much fun as the various Webley comps we have had recently and it would make a change .

.......not only that, it would be good to give it some exercise !

I can see a triathlon coming.

3 guns, 2 at 10m, 1 at 6yds, 3 targets, 5 shots at each.

Kind regards,

It is advertised here on CAPA in the For Sale section ( under Pistols) and I would consider a fair offer or a possible px with a good .177 Webley Senior or .177 Premier if anyone has a nice example to offer ?

........actually I don't have a Junior, so I would consider one of these too !

I'm seeking info on this pistol, can anyone help I wish to lighten the trigger weight slightly however the manual only shows the trigger screws set into the trigger, but there is another screw somewhere inside the trigger assy that adjust the weight. T Baytel mentions it briefly in his review, but the info is a little vague, and I don't wish to start tweaking screws willy nilly, M.

I obtained this pistol a little while ago from Bob intending to use it as a plinking/fun pistol I had previously owned the standard "slab" gripped Hw45.
First Impressions Much better than the std gripped pistol the Silver star seems to fit me like a glove important as I always have to shoot pistols one handed including powerful springer's, and much to my surprise I was able to achieve consistent tight groups, first stage & the release point for the trigger is set just right for me although 2nd stage release weight seems pretty heavy, this will need adjusting some time in the future to aid consistent results although I think ? you have to remove the grip to get to this screw. This may be why some reports on this pistol on the bbs suggested it was not good enough for the Mpl blokes, I think it could be when this adjustment is made. I also noted when received that the sight were off set a little to the left, and it did indeed shoot slightly left a slight tweak, and it was spot on from bench-rest position (Handles easily on low power from bench-rest) another surprise. It is still a bit of a "smoker" with a slight whiff of oil on firing, views vary on running these dry or leaving them lightly lubed I prefer the latter. Shooting one handed unsupported I found little difference on grouping @ 6yds or 10 mtrs between high or low power, possibly high power has more recoil but shorter barrel time & needs less holdover whilst low power has less recoil, but needs more holdover with its longer barrel time. Either way results seemed to be almost identical to me, but I have never claimed to be one of the airgun experts I just have many years experience of shooting them (as long as they ain't wobblies) M.
