Daisy 44 Revolver
Thought I'd share a picture with you of my Daisy 44's.
I bought the first one (6 inch) in a general auction in Yorkshire a couple of years ago and liked it so much that when I saw the others for sale, I thought YES. First the 8 inch and then more recently, the 4 inch.
I much prefer this pistol to the S&W 586, though I realise that that is sacrilege to some people, but its a lighter gun with a slightly smaller grip.
Having separate guns with different barrel lengths is actually far better than interchangeable barrels. I have a 686 set with 3 barrels but as you need to reset the sights each time the barrel is changed, I soon found I couldn't be bothered.
Having shot both S&W and Daisy, the Daisy is just as accurate, though slightly less powerful, but can deliver 72 good shots, which is 12 magazines-full and should be enough for anyone

Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
This is the first CO2 "replica" that I recall seeing, which was in my John Walter "Red" airgun book.
Based clearly on the Model 29, it was always a good looking copy.
The only thing that let's these pistols down is the fake cylinder.
My Gamo is the only pistol I am aware of that has a full cylinder.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
The Crosman SA6 had a full cylinder, though it had to load from the front. Still seems highly desirable despite its age.

I really admire the quality and feel of the Umarex CO2 powered S&W 586/686 based revolvers except for the non- rotating cylinders. They further reduced the appeal of the silver S&W 686 version by leaving the revolving magazine black ! How stupid that looks and how easy would it have been to make the magazine finish the same as the rest of the gun.
Regards
Brian
Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
I had a 686 in .357 magnum, so decided to get the CO2 version for old time sake.
The black mag only option did put me off, which is why I got the 586 in the end. As you say, it would have been easy enough to supply one finished in silver.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
I believe it is possible to polish the magazines up so that they match the pistol- more or less.

Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
I have a 6inch 44 which leaked but has now been fixed.
Much easier to work on than the Crosman 38 apparently.
Nice shooter.
I assume the key is for unscrewing the barrel?

Yes, its a barrel key, though a pair of long-nosed pliers work just as well.
I seem to recall there are less little fiddly parts than on the Crosman 38, though neither are very difficult.
The Crosman has the advantage of coming in .22 as well as .177

Re: Daisy 44 Revolver
You could try Ramsbottom. I got some there when I bought my first 44, though not sure if they will have any now. I could let you have 1.
