Original Model 5, Model 6 and Model 10 Family

Post by zooma » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:42 pm

I added this research to the Model 5 thread, but I thought it could hi-jack the thread and so I have transferred it to have its own thread as it may be interesting and hopefully will attract some good new information that we can add to this first attempt at recording the classic Diana/Original air pistol family.

Here is a list of Model 5 air pistol types and the recoilless Model 6 types along with the two Model 10 air pistol types.

Pre-War.
Diana Model 5.

Post War.
Original Model 5 BB Wooden stock/grip 450 fps. August 1958 - 1960.
Original Model 5 TB Wooden stock/grip 450 fps. August 1958 - 1960.
Original Model 6 Wooden stock/grip 450 fps. 1960 - 1961.
Original Model 5 Grey plastic stock/grip 450 fps. 1960 - 1972.
Original Model 6 Grey plastic stock/grip 450 fps. 1961 - 1972.
Original Model 5 Brown plastic stock/grip 450 fps.1972 - 1978.
Original Model 6 Brown plastic stock/grip 450 fps 1972 - 1978.
Original Model 5G Slant Grip type with plastic grips 450 fps. November 1978 -
Original Model 5GM Magnum Slant Grip type with 700 fps (!) 2003 - 2008.
Original Model P5 Magnum with 9" barrel and 568 fps.
Original Model 6G Slant Grip type with plastic grips 450 fps. November 1978 -2000.
Original Model 6G Slant Grip type with wooden grips 450fps.
Original Model 6GS Slant Grip type with scope rail and scope 450 fps.
Original Model 6M Slant Grip type with plastic grips 450 fps. 1978 - 1995.
Original Model 6M Slant Grips type with wooden grips 450 fps.1978 - 1999.
Original Model 10 Mk 1 with eccentric thumb web collar 450 fps. August 1974 - 1977.
Original Model 10 Mk 2 with barrel weight an plastic clip-on thumb web spacer 450 fps.January 1977 - 1989.

Sub variants of each of those named above also exist such as left handed grips on all of the "Slant Grip" models as well as further Slant Grip types with anatomical wooden grips. Moulded grips on the Slant Grips models have been moulded in grey, black and brown plastic.

All of the Giss model air pistols had a 7" barrel except the Model P5 Magnum.

All of the above models were also available branded as "Diana", "Beeman Original", "GECADO", "Winchester","Hyscore" and "RWS"(and others) and all of the Model 5 pistols can be found in .177 and .22 calibre but as far as I am aware the Model 6 and Model 10 pistols were only ever made in .177.

As I find-out more about the above models I will amend the list detailed above, so keep looking here as I am sure there are others that I have not found yet!

Hello Bob,

This is a picture of my pre-war Diana Mod 5 picked up for a song at a Bisley Arms Fair fairly recently.

The pistol appears to performing up to full power and is a real pleasure to shoot.

I will be interested in finding out more about these much underrated pistols.

Regards

Brian

Hi Brian,

That is really nice!

I don't know what song you were singing - but it must have been a good one - you will have to let me have the words so I can try to get one just like it!

How about putting this picture on the Model 5 thread so we can build a good reference to include all of the Model 5 variants that we can find?

ATB - Bob.
