Air Pistols from Around the World
We are all familiar with the many makes and models that have been available from the British/German market, but I personally know very little of what is/had been on offer from other countries.
As such, I thought it might be a worthwhile exercise to list some of the more popular examples, which I'll then compile into a sticky for future reference.
Any starters?
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
pmh, are you thinking ""allcomers" - all countries, and producing a general list regardless of age and quality; I know lots of people look down on pop-outs and tin plates so are we restricting things or "listing the whole caboodle"? for me a list is a list, but a guideline may be usefull. bellringer
Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
I am open to suggestions.
It could be we start with some well knowns from each Country, then extend the list.

Phil

France, Manu-arm, a pistol similar to the IGI and the Italian Gun Toy RO range sold by Sussex Armoury.

Yes! I have one; my first airgun, now around 30 years old. It cost about £22 at the local fishing-shop-which-sold-a-few-airguns. Stood up very well to all the abuse a curious teenager could throw at it, up to and including WD40 power enhancement and improvised projectiles, poor thing. Now non working and needs an overhaul.pmh wrote:France, Manu-arm, a pistol similar to the IGI and the Italian Gun Toy RO range sold by Sussex Armoury.

Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
Excellent. It's this type of gun that I have a soft spot for, as they tend to be the guns that got people into shooting in the first place.
The more that are kept functioning, the better, so dig it out and do it up.

IGI Duo 300 Italian springer pistol, looks a bit like the fas. M.
WALTHER LP3],Etc[/b], G0JVB ex G6MUI.
Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
I wonder why there are so many Italian match pistols, and so few French ones?
Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
Interesting point. Italian guns are usually in good condition, usually never being fitted and only dropped one!
There is also a distinct lack of English target pistols. In fact, I can't think of any. Today's circuit is certainly dominated by the Feinwerkbaus, Walthers, and Steyrs.
That said, how good would a Turkish Webley target pistol be? Though Air Arms and Brocock have no excuse not to have a go.
I know there is the Alpha Proj, but I am not sure if this is really Air Arms.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Air Pistols from Around the World
I think the Alfa Proj is Czech made, like the CZ S200.
Good point re the total lack of English match pistols. English air pistol manufacture seemed to go into a terminal decline. There was a tiny blip, a resurgence of manufacture of PCP pistols starting in the 80s with the AA PP1, Daystate Competa, Harper Wolf, and continuing into the Titan (then Falcon) FN-6 and FN-8. None of these were match pistols though and with the exception of the Wolf, they were basically cut down PCP rifle actions.
