Diana Model IV

Post by zooma » Mon Dec 23, 2013 2:59 pm

I picked up a Diana Model IV to add to my collection of Diana/Original pistols.

It is in a nice condition and cost me £45 (including postage) and I am quite pleased with it.

The Model IV is a strange over-lever pistol that does not seem to have too much power but that may just be due to it needing a little TLC but does anybody have any experience with this pistol and have any comments about its accuracy or pellet preference?

zooma, have you got the Model 1 in your collection? Just worked on mine today, it is in excellent condition, the best one I have seen.Could have been a kids Christmas present nearly 80 years ago. I have the box and instructions also.

Very nice.

I prefer this type of "quirky" design over the standard air pistol design any day.

Kind regards,

Phil, that is the moment when you realize you are an airgun connoisseur.

Hi Baz,

I do not have a Model 1 in my collection - I have never been that fortunate to find one for sale!

That is a lovely old air pistol and you are the current custodian of it so it is in safe hands.

zooma hi, from bellringer. Regarding your Diana Mod 4. Being the "saddo" that I am, in my collection of paperwork I have a mint copy of the "G4" parts manual [as Millard Bros called i]t and I also have a dealers catalogue from mid 70's which shows the Mod 4 on a couple of pages. I will be happy to scan them and e mail them to you if you want them. I have a broken G4 in my collection of odds and sods but may fix it one day. From memory when I owned a new one it wasn't pellet fussy but there were a lot less to choose from back then, I would have used either W & S; Marksman; Lanes Cat or BSA: Marksman most probably, they were always available from cycle shops and fishing tackle shops. Accuracy and power were a bit better than Webley Juniors and they shot a little smoother. E mail me if you want the scans. bellringer

WOWSER!!

That mod1 is a corker!!, I've not seen many of those before but never ever in such condition

Zooma- it looks like you have a nice early mk4 there with all steel sights! I have a late one with the plastic rearsight, it's not in bad condition, a mate at work bought it from a bootsale for £25!

It's here with my Original mod2..

Thats looks nice John - fancy seeing how it can perform over a 6 month period in the next 6 yard MPL postal competition?

The pistol should be well able to give a good account of itself at 6 yards........and it is the best excuse going to exercise some of your collectable classic air pistols - and in the safety of your own home where you can make sure it stays in the same condition as it is now

Thanks for the info Bellringer - a scan of your Model 4 parts manual and the couple of the catalogue pages with the Model 4 on it would be very interesting for this saddo to share with you!
