I wasn't aware of Giss system rifles until recently.
Then again, it's probably easier to put the system into a rifle than a pistol.
I can imagine they are heavy though.
I am still struggling with my S400, as my left elbow is still giving me trouble.
Nice pic.
Kind regards,
Phil

Model 66 and Model 75 rifles available.
I have quite a few Model 66 rifles in my collection as well as a Model 65 and a Tyrolean Model 60 - and a few Model 75's as well!
I really like the Giss system rifles, and their perfiormance is amongst the best.
I will be thinning out my Model 66 and Model 75 rifles as I have now pictured all of the very small variations for my book that I wanted to do and so no longer need to keep them all.
I will keep one of each for the time being as I enjoy using them all, but most of the ones I have are as good as each other so it does not make much difference to me which ones I keep.
Anyone interested should let me know.
I have rejected quite a few of these rifles as I have built my collection, so the ones I have are the best I have found over the past few years - either in terms of good condition or good performance - mostly both!

Thats not cheap - that's almost for nothing!JonW:1792 wrote:There is an Original 66 on Gun Star at the moment for £99. I would imagine that it isn't exactly pristine or just serviced but it is the cheapest I have seen.

I borrowed John Gs Model 66 for Thursday night's bell target knock out, and got to a single pellet shoot off in the final!
Nobody was more surprised than me!
Lost due to a stupid mistake on my part, but at least I have an anecdote for the future!
A very nice and capable rifle indeed, and a pleasure to shoot.
Kind regards,
Phil

Welldone indeed, to do that well with a borrowed rifle is superb, remind me if you ever come to my club not to loan you one of my rifles M. :lol:pmh:1797 wrote:I borrowed John Gs Model 66 for Thursday night's bell target knock, and got to a single pellet shoot off in the final!

I did hear John exclaim "beaten with my own gun too", which he said with an approving smile.
A thoroughly splendid chap, and somebody who encourages all those around him, regardless of ability.

I've not seen that many, then again, I haven't really been looking.
I think many are out there, tucked away in cupboards, etc.
Not sure about the Model 60, but the Model 66 comes with a lined barrel, which some find too heavy.
John G took his off, and replaced it with an alternative minimum liner made from an old tent pole.
I do think this puts some off.
I only shot 4 x 5 shot rounds, plus some sighters, and did feel it in my lower back the next morning.
Kind regards,
Phil

I have some nice examples of the Model 66 that I bought to help illustrate the book I am working on about target air pistols and rifles.
There are some very minor variations between them that would normally go unnoticed, but once the photography is completed they will be for sale as I will need to fund the next batch of rifles that I will need to buy to make some more progress on the book.
If anyone if interested please let me know, but they are all good - better than average, and they are the final selection after a lot of others were rejected as not being good enough for either the photography or the performance testing.
The Model 66 that John Gould used and lent to others to shoot at RMTC on Thursday was another of them that came from this same batch so this shows the standard that they are all at.
All of the Model 66 rifles come with the barrel weight/sleeve, but like Johns they can be removed and the rifle used without them. Until recently John had no barrel sleeve at all on his, and only fitted the alloy sleeve a few days before the RMTC bell target match.

Yes the Model 60 rifles are a lot rarer than any other members of the Giss rifle family - I have one for photography and review for bobsairguns and it has more style than the Model 65 or Model 66 that followed it.Ian:1806 wrote:Are Model 60's rare beasts theses days?
They look beautiful - more aesthetically pleasing then the the 65's/75's in my view
.
I also have an even rarer Tyrollean variant of the Model 60.
