I did hear John exclaim "beaten with my own gun too", which he said with an approving smile. :D

A thoroughly splendid chap, and somebody who encourages all those around him, regardless of ability.

Kind regards,

Are Model 60's rare beasts theses days?

They look beautiful - more aesthetically pleasing then the the 65's/75's in my view

I've not seen that many, then again, I haven't really been looking.

I think many are out there, tucked away in cupboards, etc.

Not sure about the Model 60, but the Model 66 comes with a lined barrel, which some find too heavy.

John G took his off, and replaced it with an alternative minimum liner made from an old tent pole.

I do think this puts some off.

I only shot 4 x 5 shot rounds, plus some sighters, and did feel it in my lower back the next morning.

Kind regards,

Phil

I have some nice examples of the Model 66 that I bought to help illustrate the book I am working on about target air pistols and rifles.

There are some very minor variations between them that would normally go unnoticed, but once the photography is completed they will be for sale as I will need to fund the next batch of rifles that I will need to buy to make some more progress on the book.

If anyone if interested please let me know, but they are all good - better than average, and they are the final selection after a lot of others were rejected as not being good enough for either the photography or the performance testing.

The Model 66 that John Gould used and lent to others to shoot at RMTC on Thursday was another of them that came from this same batch so this shows the standard that they are all at.

All of the Model 66 rifles come with the barrel weight/sleeve, but like Johns they can be removed and the rifle used without them.  Until recently John had no barrel sleeve at all on his, and only fitted the alloy sleeve a few days before the RMTC bell target match.

Yes the Model 60 rifles are a lot rarer than any other members of the Giss rifle family - I have one for photography and review for bobsairguns and it has more style than the Model 65 or Model 66 that followed it.

I also have an even rarer Tyrollean variant of the Model 60.
