Just checked the Baikal website, >link<, and it looks like the none reticule foresight is the current one.

Seems a bit of a backward step reaaly, and probably a cost saving exercise.

Kind regards,

Phil

Hell of a shame the original version is such a great rifle, better than me with it, M. :?

I spent some time this weekend researching the "izzie", and one website (being a numpty i can't remember which one  ) showed that on the new type rifle the front part of the "new" type sight can be removed & replaced with others, 2 posts sights, and 3 ring diopter type sights!. the sight has a large ring which fits over the barrel then it continues
up to the ring or post sight. the picture showed that the end of the barrel was threaded so that the front part can be removed to replace these unusual, but effective looking foresight elements. possibly a cap @ the end unscrews to allow this, could'nt tell from the drawing not detailed enough. Very interesting.

The one bought from York Guns doesn't appear to have this facility.

I've only seen the IZH61 for sale too.

Kind regards,

Phil

The 61 & 60 are the same gun except the 60 is single shot the foresight on this one appears to be the same as the current 61's for sale here in the uk i just thought this might help those with the new type 61's, i have not seen one to see if the foresight will unscrew to allow change of the elements. I shoot with the redhill revolvers and i picked up a few things on the way.

1. Don't overpractice... Muscles get tired and you lose accuracy, i prefer to train in short sessions with breaks inbetween.
2. Check sights with a rested rifle every time you practice especially when starting a new tin of pellets.
3. Never assume a new tin of pellets will be as good as the previous.
4. Never drink anything that can make you shakey like caffeine.
5. Chrono your rifle, this will tell you if there is an issue developing with your rifle/pistol.
6. Pistols: try to get your shots round the hole as tightly as you can, 20 points and no rings is a good result and any rings are a bonus. Bell target pistol is harder than rifles.
7. Try to end your practice session on a good note.

Melbourne Marksmen (RBL)will be running another Collectors Session/Airgun Fayre in February on a Saturday afternoon.
We will again run a couple of competitions on the day. One will be with our NSRA Biathlon target and the other will be a bell target match for the experts who attend.

I noticed on here that benchrest pistol at 6yds is being shot by some clubs. I think we may well give this a go at Melbourne-sounds good.

A great big 'HI' to every one on this thread; I have some posts elsewhere on the site relating to Bell Target, please find the time to look. Bell Target is indeed a great and very historical British sport and although I am repeating myself here but not everyone may know that the 3/8" hole at 6 yards is deemed to equal a mans head at 100 yards, as the sport has its origins in military training from the late 1800's. As a traditionalist with some things I would not like to see anything changed to metric, and the amount of sizes involved are not mind boggling. The rule of thumb is that it is a rifle sport, but there is no reason not to use pistols if you feel like it [several of my team mates do so], and almost every league I know of has its own set of rules and regulations regarding scoring and equipment, and indeed my own league [Wolverhampton Air Rifle League] has had several changes of rules as it has progressed over the years. Bridgnorth [Shropshire] as what is accepted as the oldest reported league in the country with The Bridgnorth Journal reporting a 'league' in 1900 and with the actual starting date even before that, has had to change its rules a lot to keep pace with the massive changes it has seen. As a sport 'Bell' is now first and foremost a family based sport, fairly informal in structure, so within your own circle, make up your required rules, set your weapon and equipment limitations and just firstly and mostly important ''ENJOY''. The members name here may just be a clue as to how much I enjoy this discipline of shooting; Cheers everyone from ''bellringer'' :text-bravo:
