It arrived this morning, and very impressive it is too.

I just need to get a case and some signs sorted out for it.

Will post pictures when I get a moment.

Kind regards,

Phil

Phil

What? Like pointy end> <blunt end or Front>  <Rear  ?

How very odd!

My oriental spill chucker strikes again!

Signs = sights.

I should pay more attention before I press submit!

Stick to Signs Phil, we have already agreed sights are a dear do. Even second hand people want a real premium for "vintage".  In one instance recently I calculated it would have almost doubled the worth of a recent rifle sale by taking the front and rear sight set off and selling them seperately!

Just got a set (Air Arms) off ebay for £43 delivered.

Not got any at all at moment, so they'll do for now.

Kind regards,

Had half an hour in the garage with the Walther and the Skan, early this evening.

I need to work on cocking technique as it is quite tiring and requires quite a bit of effort.

Whereas the Feinwerkbau cocks on the open stroke, the Walther chocks on the closing stroke.

I didn't individually weigh the pellets on this occasion, I just took the printed weight on the tin for the purpose of my calculations.

As our clubs bell target comp only allows Superdomes, this is the pellet I used.

The results were as follows:-

fps          ft/lbs
494.43    4.51
494.43    4.51
494.43    4.51
466.74    4.02
494.43    4.51
492.61    4.47
501.25    4.63
481.34    4.27
480.76    4.26
494.43    4.51

Some very consistent results, and some spurious ones, which I'll put down to variation in pellet weight, etc.

I haven't had the chance to check the Superdome for weight variation yet, but I'll do this in the near future.

I also spent a bit of time with Bob's Predom, which I'll report about in a thread of it's own.

Kind regards,

Phil

I'm glad someone does all these test & trials they are very interesting, for me however i just like to shoot, and now i reckon my Walther is the business i've not been able to get to my club for a month, but will be back there with a vengance next month, my practice has come on in leaps & bounds & am looking forward to producing some very impressive scores (hopefully), M.

I've just fitted a full set of original sights, so will be having a go on Thursday.

I like tests, trials, and data, you can tell an awful lot with not too much effort.

Kind regards,

Phil

The only test i usually do is grouping with various pellets to see which is best for my gun, then let my gun do the talking, M. :D

I usually do a chrono test for best consistency, then a group test to double verify.

I've just bought a batch of 4.49mm R10s to try, as opposed to my 4.50mm ones.

I am not yet convinced that 1/100mm makes a difference.

I might run a chrono test with my 6G on this to see.

Kind regards,

I agree some what in so far for the average club shooter who shoots 6yds/10mtrs would notice little difference, however the time i spent shooting f/t @ distances up to 50mtrs getting that right for your combo was absolutely vital, atb, M.
