Bell Target Rifle

Well, a while back I negotiated the purchase of a FWB 300S  I had had one on my list for quite a while and although there are other great 10 metre rifles as far as I am concerned there is the FWB and the Walther. As I have a FWB65 and a FWB80 pistol it was logical I would go for the "set".
This particular gun I was able to try-before-I-buy and it shot so sweetly. Bob, who sold it to me, said that it was one of the sweetest shooting 300S' that he had owned. The thing that let it down - It had obviously been a 'Club Gun'!
So I carefully stripped it and started on the stock - this is where I am up to:

And now where it is up to:

I have made a new grip-cap from Rosewood and inserted a rather smart white insert cut from a washing up bottle - an avid Blue Peter fan here!

Well, I am going to put the rest of it together tomorrow and hopefully give it a test drive on Thursday night at the club. It will need sighting in - again - but I am going to try a couple of different inserts as I have a full original set.
End of the month I am going to splash out and buy myself a nice new adjustable rear diopter.

Excellent job.

To be honest, the stock looks worse in the picture than it did in real life.

You can certainly see the "blonde" in the 1970s varnish.

I need a diopter for my Walther.

I am told the Air Arms, as seen on ebay is an ok, but I need to do some research.

Kind regards,

Phil

Trust me, I have more pictures - it was actually worse. But not a problem. The finish is silky smooth now.

Ohh! Point one out to me, I would like to see. This is the one I am going to go for (Iris that is - I am sticking with the FWB rear Diopter unit) :

>This< is the sight I 2 looking at, but I didn't notice your "adjustable" bit, so this wouldn't be any use to you.

Expensive business for a good one.

Thank you. I picked up the "bits" from Colin Malloy earlier today and the bluing job is great. Colin has done it back to original spec as FWB finishes were almost a black rather than a blue. It is really very close because i didnt give him the trigger assembly or the sled and you are hard pushed to tell the difference.
I will finish building it up tomorrow but I am letting the epoxy set on the barrel shroud/barrel weight overnight. Ready to assassinate some of them there Bells on Thursday!  :D
