Webley Targets
Recently picked up a not too old Webley paper/card target which was retailed when they were in Rubery, Birmingham. This has sparked an interest and i have been wondering if any fellow enthusiasts would be willing to share any high resolution scans with me of ANY Webley paper/card targets they have. Basically I would just like to see what the evolution of the Webley branded targets looked like through the years.
I very much appreciate your help my friends.

Re: Webley Targets
The makings of a very interesting thread.
I have some old BSA ones, along with the "free" target older, but not any Webley targets.
However, I am sure some members will be along shortly with their offerings.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Webley Targets
I have a few of the various vintage Webley paper targets in my collection.
The six inch scale is placed alongside the targets as a reference for the size of the targets.
Webley No. 1 targets.
Webley No. 2 targets.
Webley No. 3 targets.
Webley No. 4 targets.

Re: Webley Targets
Here are photos of the only Webley targets I own. Found them at a Vancouver Island gun show about three years ago. The price tag reads 18 p so I assume someone that immigrated brought them to Canada.

Excellent pictures.
Gives a source of reference as to what to look out for.

Re: Webley Targets
Hi, 'gab', the Webley No 3 tgt is a direct copy of the old NSRA 6yd target, which was replaced with the current one which has a ''1mm'' spot for a ten score. I cannot remember the exact date of the NSRA change over but it was done because the No3 target was considered ''too easy'' at 6yds with the turn to recoilless rifles, and I think the scoring on the old cards may have been ''outward'' but it was a long time ago, so don't hold me to that, it just seems to jog a memory in the ''distant past'' folder in my old brain. I was part of a 3 man team that set a GB record on the old target. From memory the total possible was 1800 and we scored 1797; and yes I dropped 2 of the 3 missed scores; one team member dropped 1, and the third member scored a maximum, but he was already a GB shooter, so we kind of expected that of him. He was the late Don Green, sadly now no longer with us, but if you find NSRA mags or Guns Reviews from the 60's to 80's he will be there somewhere. I know the targets were changed not too long after the score was set, so that record remains as I understand it. Hope that bit of info is not too useless or boring. Nice photos throughout the thread though; I would like to post photos sometimes but don't know how to do it, any help anyone? cheers bellringer

Re: Webley Targets
thought there may be some interest in sharing the attached scan of a recent addition to my collection, which now numbers two original webley targets and growing.
would anyone have an idea of which decade this came from. i am guessing that the winged pellet logo may be a clue?

Re: Webley Targets
Well - I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that, but clearly had my logos mixed up royally.I'd be inclined to place that as being a fairly recent target, based on the variant of the Webley emblem.
That skinny looking, winged waisted pellet would coincide with the Turkish produced "Webleys".
You are absolutely correct, Phil.
This is the most recent logo:
This is the logo that appears on some Webley accessories that I have that would date to around the mid 1980s:
All of my earlier Webley targets, which are to my knowledge, all pre-1980, have the square logo, either on the target, or the box:
So, with the target in question bearing the earlier "Flying Scott" logo, I'd have to change my answer to 1980s vintage.

Re: Webley Targets
I tried to find out some info, but it seems a bit limited on the Web.
To me, the latest pellet logo seems to have two swept back skeletal wings, whereas the one above seems to be more reminiscent of the 60s/70s.
I am sure some of our Webley enthusiasts will be along to add their opinion.
Kind regards,
Phil
