Webley Mk 1. Pre-War

A place to discuss all things Webley. As this is probably the most collected airgun maker we felt it deserved a section of its own.

Webley Mk 1. Pre-War

A friend of mine gave me his Webley Mk 1 to photograph for http://www.bobsairguns.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The pistol had not been cherished but it was claimed to be working - something I can now confirm!

A quick wipe over with a well oiled ultra-fine Norton pad saw all of the fresh rust and muck taken off to reveal what can be seen in the pictures shown on the link below:-

Although not exactly in "collecting condition" it does show the detail well enough until I can get a tidier example in our studio to take some more pictures.

I like this old Webley and I like it being a .177 too, so if anyone has one tucked away at home that they would consider parting with - please send me a PM or an email!!
Feinwerkbau P40 Tricolour wanted.........still !

Hello,

I have always preferred the pre-war straight grip Webley pistols to look at but have found the slant grip pistols are more comfortable to hold and seem to come up into the aim more easily. Although I have quite a few 'straight grip' Webley pistols, my overall favourite is the pre-war slant grip Senior which has a slim, elegant trigger and plain unserrated barrel unlike the post-war examples.

Regards

Brian

It also has the more aesthetically pleasing, to the eye, barrel release.

Unfortunately, these are quite awkward to operate, and it is understandable why this particular part was "upgraded".

That said, I think the Webley range of pistols are the only range where you can physically see the development of an air pistol through the ages.

Kind regards,
