I have been messing around with both 'Brummie' and 'Turkish' Tempests quite a lot just recently and as a result have neglected my normally preferred 'all steel' Webleys.
I must say I had forgotten just how pleasant these older Webley pistols are to shoot compared with more modern spring air pistols. I don't have an English Tempest in .22, but the Turkish version although accurate, is quite hard to cock and a bit harsh on recoil.
Just for a change last night I took my 1965 .22 Webley 'Premier' to the range for an outing with the following result at 10 metres using a single hand unsupported stance on a standard NSRA 10 metre target.
Not only was it far nicer to shoot, but the group was at least as good as that obtainable with the 'Tempest'.
Now I remember why I prefer the older Webley pistols to the more modern examples.
