ALECTO

A place to discuss all things Webley. As this is probably the most collected airgun maker we felt it deserved a section of its own.

Alecto, is this another "marmite" pistol, some complained they did'nt like the different feel of the trigger although it could be set very light indeed, I soon became used to the trigger, and found it would group as well as any of my target pistols.
However i did sell it on "feel & hold" is very important to me, and the grip was never quite right for me although it shot very well, but it was over bulky & ugly to me on the fore end the underslung accessory rail yuk, M.

I was impressed by the performance including accuracy, the variable power and the trigger. However, I found the grip uncomfortable and it looked uglier than an HW45 and thats saying something. Besides, I hate plastic guns with a passion!

I do quite like these.

Might pick one up one day to add to collection.

Kind regards,

Phil

Good introductory pistol for anyone starting out in target competitions. As previously mentioned it serves the main criteria of being accurate and reasonably priced.Aesthetics are secondary .

I'll add one some day, but they are commanding high money for what they are.

Kind regards,

Webley brought a sample along to one of the early UBC meets and I was quite impressed.  This impression was reinforced when it was used as the workhorse for the shoot-off in the snooker shoot, and I scored a 147! :)
At the initial price of £169 it was a real bargain, but now it's much dearer than that.

I still have a soft spot for it but it does have looks only its mother could love, has far too much plastic, and is let down by the trigger.

I was led to believe they were designed as "Duel-stroke" pneumatics (1 or 2 pumps). However, Ive seen a few which have been pumped 3 or 4 times to increase power. Coincidently, a number of those pistol owners have reported valve problems etc.

Mine is designed for 3 pumps but it proves such an effort for the third stroke that I never bother. I'm sure there was once something similar on the market called a Bullworker   :D

Generally I find a single pump is adequate, particularly at 6m.

They are a rebadged Turkish brand pistol called a Zoraki HP-01 and are actually designed for 3 or more pumps for high power.  I think the long barrelled versions can do over 9 ft.lbs where allowed by law. UK versions have a blow off valve so they don't go over 6 ft.lbs but this usually means that 3 pumps gives only a tiny bit more than 2.

After an hour of shooting longer distances using 3 pumps for each shot I needed a lie down - I was exhausted. Also as I became more and more tired I found holding a steady aim difficult!
