Hi All,
My name is Tony Volante and I live in Kingsteignton, Devon. Back when I was in the army (1961-1963) I was based at first in Germany and later in Sharjah (Persian Gulf) and Aden. Whilst in Germany I bought myself a brand new Diana Model 6 air pistol. A superb gun in .177 calibre and was designed to be recoilless with 2 opposing pistons. It also had a vernier rear sight and was very accurate. When I left the army I lived in Swindon,Wiltshire and joined the British Rail airgun club. Still using my Diana 6 I took part in many competitions including trips to Bisley. Since moving to Devon (some 20 years ago) I’ve not been involved in shooting at all but now, at the ripe old age of 81, I hanker after getting back on the range. So I’ve just bought myself a nice Christmas present of, guess what, a Diana Model 6. Nostalgia reigns ! It shoots very nicely and is quite accurate (indoor test), so all I need to do now is build myself a target range in the garden. I also aim to join a local airgun club in the spring.
Best wishes for Christmas and the new year.
Tony

Hello Tony,

And welcome to the forum

I like the Original pistols, owning the Model 5, Model 6, and Model 10. My only comment being that I have been spoilt by modern offerings. Picking up the Model 10 after shooting my Feinwerkbau P44 shows a significant weight difference.

Target pistols set for 10M are also spot on at 6Yds. The 6Yd targets are also scale so they appear the same size as a 10M target, so 6Yds is ideal for an indoor range.

Kind regards,

Phil

Welcome Tony, age is irrelevant in this sport / pastime but I do admire a 'senior' shooter who re-enters the sport; [from a young and actively competing 71 year old]; you are in superb company here, I still own an earlier Mod 6, but have been happy to have owned Mod's 5 from the wooden grip one to the newer plastic grip one; as well as the Mod 10 ser's. 1 [ sold in a moment of madness and regretted many times over]. Welcome and enjoy access to a great family.

Sorry as a newbie to resurrect this thread, but it caught my attention.
Back in the mid 90's I shot 6yd and 10m comps using a Mod.10. Won a lot of trophies with it. Fabulous pistol with real soul!

I got waylaid by small and large bore pistol shooting- dipping into IPSC with a tuned Colt 45 Gold cup. Probably the most accurate and fun to shot pistol I have ever shot.

Roll forward to now and I bought a used Mod.10 a few weeks ago, complete with it's fitted case. Needed a little fettling but now it shoots well. I've also got a Mod.6 which I rebuilt with new seals, springs etc. Excellent pistol- and a Mod.5 with the placcy grip. Superb for a pure springer. just bought a FAS 604, which has been resealed, just needs tidying- I'm on the case! Now I'm looking for a FWB 65 (?) to complete my collection of Target pistols in use when I was competing!

So, tonyvee, how have you been getting on with your mod.10? did you join a club? Hope you are still enjoyng it :D
