Newbie from North West of London
Hi Everyone
Just found my way to this site from the link left on AirgunBBS.
I'm relatively new to the world of airgunning and even newer to the world of air pistols.
I got myself a HW45 Silver star for christmas and also recently purchased an early ebley junior.
I look forward to being educated on all things pistols and hope to join in where I can
Regards

Hello,
And welcome to the forum.
The HW45 has been around for sometime now, and can truly be called a classic. Not my favourite of pistols, as I find them top heavy, with an odd recoil, but I think I am in the minority.
I just picked up my first Webley, an enjoyable experience indeed.
Kind regards,
Phil

Thanks for the warm welcome
pmh, that's an impressive list.
I first started shooting a pistol in the 70s with my dad. I had a Harrington Gat my dad had a Diana G10. WE bused to shhot in the corridor against the front door where the target was placed. That poor door took a hammering from the darts (couldn't afford pellets). I still have my Gat unfortunately my dad has passed away some years ago and I have not located the G10. Keeping my eyes and ears open for one. They had one on Gunstar in a box for £100 I made an offer but it wasn't accepted. It was on there for a long time.

Memories are a great comfort and well worth keeping hold of.
£45 is tops for a good condition, boxed, G10 in my opinion.
They do come up quite often, so it worth hanging on for the right one.
Kind regards,
Phil

Somewhere in my loft...... which is like Steptoes yard....... I should have 2 G10's... 1 in fairly good condition, and 1 not so good. Havent seen them in several years, but loft is due for a good root-out soon. If I find them..you are welcome to them.
BUT:-
On another forum a few months ago, there was a very heated thread about these type of pistols. It was suggested that these pistols were now categorised as R.I.F. (Replica Imitation Firearms is, I think, the term... please correct me if I got that wrong). And, as such, are now illegal if still painted black, and not bright red/yellow/green etc.
Anyway, need to check this out to see if it is actually correct, or a load of tosh. As I say, if I can find them.... they're yours. The good one should still be in its box.

Mitchell301 you are a star!
I'm not aware of RIF so did a google search. There is an interesting discussion thread on gunstar. Whats the difference with some of the Umarex models that replicate real guns Or even the Weihrauch HW45 /75
http://www.gunstar.co.uk/forum/Realisti ... pi444.aspx
I know for compliance with the Toy Safety Directive pistols have to be brightly coloured to differentiate them from the real thing.
I know SMK still supply avariation of this pistol in both Black and silver.

They are only RIFs if producing less than 1 Joule (about 0.75 ftlbs).
Above that they are airguns, as are the G10s, for which the VCRA doesn't count.
A very, very bad piece of legislation.
Kind regards,
Phil
