Been a member of three other forums for a while, and find all very good, but my interest is in ssp's and springer pistols only. I thought being with this site would allow me to go straight to topics concerning my prefered area. My first purchase was a CO2 which was loud, and gave inconsistent POI's and dangerous ricochets, then a leaky seal, meant wasted co2 bulbs. I then tried the Beeman P17 and was hooked on self contained power plants and lead. You can see from my signature where I went from there. Only been "at it" since early 2011 since loosing my wife to cancer, but making progress. Look forward to meeting everyone through exchanges on the forum. ATB. Pete.

Hi Pete
Welcome to CAPA!
An excellent selection of pistols that you have there! Which CO2 did you start with? If it was one of the multi shot 'replica cartridge pistol' types then that probably explains the performance issues. Im a fan of older and classic design CO2 pistols many of which are very consistent and accurate performers.
Good to have you on board

It was the Cybergun M84 Ian. I shoot at home in a 20ft range. The co2,s are too loud apart from the earlier issues. Plus I like to practice bullseye shooting so the accuracy of my selection are better suited than the replicas.

Im not suprised that you had difficulties! These types of gun are more about image than performance really - they are good for simulating cartrdige pistol shooting at short ranges but not up to much for precision target work. There are very accurate CO2 pistols available though. If you look at Decembers bench rest results you will see that I managed a good score with my 40 year old S&W single shot CO2, likewise I can get nearly as good results from a modern Benjamin EB22. Rohm and Durov multi shot CO2's are very accurate as is, suprisingly the vintage Crosman 600 (its a 10 shot .22) however these are quite expensive these days.peteswright:1360 wrote:It was the Cybergun M84 Ian. You are quite right about the noise though - all of the above are noisy. My Benjamin has a very loud bark indeed.

Yes, I've learned recently that co2's go back a long way. I Think i'll be sticking with what i've got though. What I really need, is a trigger finger that works without moving the sights!!!

Don't yet have the confidence for that, but thanks for the suggestion, and welcome. Consistency of hits on target aren't there yet, especially with my springers.

Hello Pete,
And welcome to the forum.
My first Gamo was the PR15, an SSP repeating lead ball gun. I got the Compact shortly after, with a Falcon last year.
One Gamo to watch out for is the Centre, a very capable target pistol.
Kind regards,
Phil
