CO2 pistols

Post by mitchell301 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:07 pm

Its going to be a "co2" day for me at the club tomorrow. I've neglected my 2 cp88's since I bought a S & W 586 last june, and I havent used that too often either. I hope all seals etc are ok. Apart from lubing the tip of a new Gas capsule on each one,...are there any other essentials I may need to do?  Mechanically, all moving parts seem to be moving smoothly. Its been a quiet saturday at home, and I didnt want to upset the neighbours by firing-off co2 in the house or garden.

CO2 pistols need very little maintenance, though too much lubrication is just as bad as not enough.

My Smith is probably 10 years old now and hasn't been touched. I do Pelgun oil the CO2 capsules but only around every fourth or fifth, not each one.

A tiny drop of quality gun oil on moving/mating parts wouldn't go amiss.

Other than that you should be fine.

Kind regards,

When an expert stripped one of my Crosmans he told me that he didnt think it had ever had any maintenance. At the time it was about 45 years old and still working fine with only slight leaking from the seals.

If you had been applying a little oil to the seals on your Umarex's then I would have thought that they will all be fine!

Used both at the club today....no problems whatsoever. In fact, one of them seemed better than last time.... maybe I had overlubed it previously and it has now dried out a bit. :D
