Seeing double
What can I say, I got my first 45 yesterday and my second today.
I was so impressed with this gun I traded in my BSA Superstar today for a new Black star.
Out of the box it was very lively indeed, and dieseling like mad with added smoke and a crack from muzzle, after 50 shot it started to settle down a little.
The reason for two pistols the same s because I like the grips on the standard 45 and love the grips on the Black star, so now I have both.
Note:
I have blamed this forum for the purchases and told the wife all complaints need to go to admin
I was going to get the 75 today instead, but on shooting it I found it was dead, and thus for me I would get bored, that said if one came up at a good price in the future I would have it just for my collection.
Today I must of cocked the guns over c300 times, I used my thigh to aid cocking, and once open with safety on I insert pellet and close it with barrel facing the target, then safety off.
I found on a couple of occasions when cocking, one of my fingers was near to the trigger, so I have got into a routine to use safety all the time.

HW 45's
Love the HW45's - struggled to master them at first due to the recoil as they kick like a Mule on full power, but once you get used to them they are great. Butt ugly, but great pistols.
A black star and an iron sight older HW45 and a HW75 that gets used as well, sold the HW40 as it wasn't getting used!
I do fancy trying a HW70 to see how it shoots

Glad you have found a gun you like.
Your next purchase has to be a silver star, as you are on a theme.
I think the standard HW45 is also available with s silver "slide".
Kind regards,
Phil

At first glance they look like Flambeau.
If so, I got mine from ebay, for round about £15 delivered. They do a 14" and 17" version
Kind regards,
Phil

Got them on E-Bay, they are the Flambeau Zerust cases cost about £12 each, if I remember correctlyArv:1554 wrote:Graeme , nice collection there.
Where did you get them cases from?
Most good Gun shops stock them
The ones pictured are the Medium case which is 14"
They also do a small 10" and a large 18" case
They are supposted to have some anti rust element in the foam to protect the pistols and the cases themselves are able to be locked by using a small padlock

That's very nice indeed...Ian:1556 wrote:Not forgetting the limited edition and now quite rare 'shiny' nickel finish ones!pmh:1553 wrote:Glad you have found a gun you like.

The Pachmeyer ones are the ones I had before getting my wooden ones. They are available mail order from midway uk - nice combination of wood and rubber.Ian:1561 wrote:I fitted a set of Pachmeyer grips to my standard one. As regards comfort and consistency of hold I find these superior to the Black Star ones
Hogue also do colt 911 black rubber wrap around grips which fit the HW45
I think midway uk also stock these as well
