50+ Members and rising

Post by pmh » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:35 pm

Well, in just over two months, we've passed the 50 member mark.

Some members haven't posted yet, though; I'm not sure whether they joined and thought it wasn't for them, or whether they are contented with just reading the posts.

Either way it doesn't matter, but it is nice to hear the thought, views, and opinions of everybody.

Let's hope we continue to grow and continue with the many excellent and informative posts that we have had so far.

Thank you for all your efforts and support.

Kind regards,

Phil

I would imagine the quieter members are just biding their time before joining in. It's great to see the membership numbers rising, lets hope they fancy a go at the rested competition.  :)

Once we get the numbers up on the rested comp, there is plenty of scope for others, such as a simulated 6 yard bell target, etc.

We will, of course, need volunteers to run such.

Kind regards,

Phil

We have the Red Bobs at the club.

Many years ago I made an electronic version with a buzzer, which is not as loud as a bell,  making it more neighbour friendly.

Could easily replace the buzzer with s flashing LED for a more noise free operation.

It would be quite easy to transfer the dimensions to a paper target.

Kind regards,

Phil

BPA used correct size paper targets to simulate bell target with the centre ring (5) outward gauging & the remainder inward gauging as usual, that was a fun comp for pistol & possibly rifle could be done also, ?? M.

I would enjoy the challenge of bell target at 6 yards

Always on the lookout for a challenge at this range - one of the reasons I like shooting the more basic (non target) pistols such as the Benjamin

The official bell targets also have scoring rings machined into the face.

I am in the process of reading up on the rules, and will post some links soon, as these do vary slightly around the country.

For a practice target it would be more cheaper to make your own, using a piece of scrap steel and a bike bell.

If using a bike bell, though, I think it wise for the pellet to hit a striking lever, rather than the bell directly.

I do find it rewarding to use things I have built myself.

Thanks Phil

The intro to the site refers to it as a .177 rifle discipline

Is it ever shot in .22?

As you know, I much prefer the larger caliber!

Not that I am aware of.

Energy is also around the 6 ftlbs mark, as that's all that's needed.
