Air Pistols Stuck in Coventry?

Post by zooma » Sat May 04, 2013 5:12 pm

I bought a Hammerli Master from eGun - it left Germany on April 18th via DHL and they got it to the UK on April 19th.

All OK so far - except - at this stage the master's of total incompetence known universally as Parcelfarce then took over  :(

As soon as they get hold of it they change the DHL number to one of their own making that DHL are not advised about  (!) - so DHL also loose sight of it once Parcelfarce get hold of it,  so having done their job efficiently it then becomes a pointless effort as the dumbos at Coventry HQ of bumbling jobsworths kill off the job in their time honoured fashion.

Today is May 5th and there is still no news about my parcel that they have decided to sit upon - presumably until they have time to loose it !

As a matter of interest, I bought a CP3 from Germany since then, and this time DHL decided not to let Parcelflunk cock it up and delivered it to me themselves within two days!

Anyway, back to the plot - the next step is for Parcelost to ask what is inside the parcel  - presumably to fool you into thinking that this will somehow help them identify your brown box from the thousands of other brown boxes they are holding hostage.

Tell them it is a target air pistol - so a specialist jobsworth can then call the bomb disposal sqaud to save him having to do any work that day - to give him some extra time to work out how he can avoid doing any work the next day...........

If they ask - it may be better to say its an Airfix kit - then they can call in the chemical warfare department - just incase a tube of plastic glue was slipped in the box!

Anybody got any similar stories about Pacelfarce who seem determined to make us proud to be British?

........just thought I should mention that I am not at all upset about this experience - I know its not unique  - but why do other international carriers that do have a good reputation risk tarnishing it by working with a bunch of incompetent jobsworths like Parcelcock

I'm in a similar situation, as I posted on another thread.
My FWB model 2 has been locked in the international hub at Coventry since 22 April.
When I first made inquiries of Parcelforce, they wanted to know all sorts of unnecessary information about the sender, even though the parcel had arrived in this country. Finally they said that the parcel was being held up in Customs.
Customs have proved impossible to contact by phone and finally I sent them a fax yesterday to try and find out what was going on. No reply as yet - probably no paper in the fax machine.

I live in hopes that it might eventually be released and sent on its way.

You see, and this is it isn't it. Not only do we suspect they are incompetent but they then open their mouths and remove all doubt!
Out of all of the carriers I have the most grief with ParcelFarce.

We need to stop all this paranoia, and nonsense that we are all at risk from terrorists and wrong doers.

Recent legislation is nothing other than the last desperate thrashings of a downing government.

Kind regards,

You've got to love Royal Mail too.

I agreed a purchase Tuesday before Easter, which was sent RMSD on Wednesday and which I knew would be delivered Thursday, but we were in and out of the house that day.
No problem I thought, they'll stick it back in the box for collection and return to the depot with a 48 hours notice to me. I'll pick it up on Saturday at my convenience.
Come Saturday morning I'm reminded it was "Good Friday Yesterday, so our drivers knocked off early and didn't collect from boxes" Groan, says me and asks when should I come back. "Well it's Easter holiday so it could be Tuesday, but Wednesday for sure."

At least I smiled on Wednesday.

......or it could be that Parcelexcuse is just a crapp carrier that does not need any help from the government to prove it.

Lets leave politics out of it as it may deflect some of the criticism this incompetent bunch of losers (literally some times) deserves.

I had a phone call from Parcelthieft yesterday to ask what exactly is inside my parcel that they are holding.

....... turns out I am being a bit of a nuisance by asking them to let me have my property that they admit to having and not releasing.

I asked them how this information would help them to distinguish my brown parcel from the thousands of other brown parcels they were holding hostage ?

Anyway, with dying hope and nothing much to loose, I explained that it was a perfectly legal and collectable paper punching target air pistol of very low power that I needed as a reference to help me complete my book.

They said they would call me back....................................................

Sounds like they are looking for an excuse to return to sender.

Unfortunately, it would cost less, and be less trouble, just to deliver it!

Kind regards,

My pistols are still stuck in Coventry with no idea when they may be delivered to me as the legal owner.

I had a phone call from my local PF depot explaining that they had a massive backlog of "firearms" stuck in Coventry waiting for attention - and that most of them had come in from Germany !

Personally I would be hooting the Gaff down at my local MP's surgery.

But then I can be a contentious git!

Progress - possibly.

My parcel has now been at Coventry for a month, but today I received a letter from them explaining why it has been retained and wanting info about power output. I can't actually find anything online about power output of FWB model 2, other than a Wiki entry about the F in pentagon symbol which indicates that it is below the legal limit.
Does anyone have an actual spec for this model ?

However, I do now have a phone number, email and postal address for these people - why could Parcelforce not have provided me with this information weeks ago ?

Following a lot of phone calls to my "local" (closest) Pacelforce office at Preston (as well as Coventry), I was pleased to have a parcel delivered to me this morning with my superb Hammerli Master safely packed inside it.

I did provide some information about myself and the pistols intended legal use as well as the dimensions, some history about the pistol manufacturer (factory burned down etc) and the claimed power of the pistol as described in the Blue Book of Airguns - so this would be the book to use to quote anything they may like to know - or at least - it worked for me!

I am now a "happy bunny" and look forward to taking some pictures of my Hammerli to show on bobsairguns and of course testing it on the club range as soon as possible !

Thanks. I've sent an email quoting and linking to the Blue Book & Wiki, so will have to wait and see if that is enough, or whether they need it in writing.
At least I have had some response so I can keep badgering them as necessary.
