I am warming to sitting, certainly allows all abilities to take part.

I have a "fat bag" which is a great benchrest bag.  A one handed pistol rests perfectly in the V of this, but I think one handed rested is all that needs to be said.

Shooters can then adopt whatever they feel is best.

I'll post some pictures of how I would shoot,  for ideas.

Kind regards,

Phil

Sounds interesting - never tried this before, only shot standing unsupported one or two handed

I will look on the net for a suitable rest

I've only ever shot standing unsupported too. So do you support the hand, arm or the pistol?

The more I think about this bench rest thing the more I am intrigued

Just been reading this - it relates mainly to cartridge pistols but some of it may be useful

I hold the pistol as normal,  then rest my hand,  so its a bit of both, depending upon which rest is chosen.

Do a net search for Fat Bag and you'll see mine.

Kind regards,

Phil

I'm sure Mrs pmh would not appreciate the name calling (shame on you)

I will however do some net searches for benchrest equipment.   :P

Well found there Ian.

Odd name indeed.  :D

Thats the chap. I filled my with bean bag fill, and it's perfect.

Trouble is, out of a 3ft bag of the stuff, I still have most of it left, so if anybody needs any fill, I have plenty left.

Well, I finished the trial target, just needs a few lines for date, etc, but here it is if anybody fancies a go, the target is >>Here<<.

1 shot at each roundel, 10 shots in total.

Highest score is 10, but you score a bonus 0.5 if you completely obliterate the very small centre circle, which then makes the total possible for each roundel 10.5

I would be grateful for feed back.

Kind regards,

Phil

Looks good Phil - I will print a couple off tomorrow and have a go with an improvised rest - probably a couple of cushions!

Hence the trial.  :D

It's very easy to resize, should it be too easy.

Ian is going to have a go to see what it's like.

I'll also try and have a go over the weekend.

It doesn't look too bad printed out,  and I expect it'll be quite small even at 6 yards.

Kind regards,

Phil

I have printed 3 off.

I think it will suddenly shrink,  when viewed with open sights at 6 yards.

Kind regards,

Phil

Managed to print some off today and have a quick go earlier

Seemed OK to me - not too large!

I have to admit to shooting .22 CO2 recoiless off the makeshift bench rest though (an assortment of cushions on top of the folding garden table!)

The joints in my right hand cant really cope with the recoil of a springer

It was one handed though and the pistol is nearly 50 years old!
