Re: Running Boar FWB 300

Fascinating. I remember reading about Running Boar years ago but I've never seen it.
IIRC you could use a scope?

Did you "chase" the target, like shooting clays, or "ambush" it by holding still ahead of it and breaking the trigger at (hopefully) the right moment?

Re: Firing Erratically

There is a 3 page thread on there where someone was asking why people had to have gert big scopes on their rifle, and a very patient man , who obviously shot in FT comps, was trying to explain parallax ranging to them and the reason the side wheel is so big, they just weren't getting it, and tried ...

Re: FAS 6004 - arrival imminent.

Sorry to hear that Ian. It's a shame that the good news of a really good pistol (the 604) effectively getting a new lease of life, has been spoiled somewhat.

Re: FAS 6004 - arrival imminent.

Nice comparison shot there, showing what looks like a significantly longer stroke on the FAS. What is the power on the new FAS? I recall the old one being about the same as the HW75/HW40.

Re: My first Air Rifle

How did you get on with this one?

I'm curious as to what a healthy example puts out, velocity wise.

Memory lane

Add me to the "Diana 15 introduced me to airguns" club! It was my father's and I used to "borrow" it from the wardrobe and lacking any proper pellets I used to shoot plasticine pellets. Difficult to size them right and you had to lube them or they stuck in the bore! At one point I discovered that so...

Re: Bolt shortening

Thanks for that Graham. It's good to know the proper way to do something.

The scarce occasions I've needed to do something similar it's been the "dremel it off and file off the burrs" method!

Nice, you don't see many of these about! I remember them from the mag reviews back in the 80s. IIRC they were somewhat mixed.

Agreed. I'd expect one with a couple of years test left for that money.

Re: Barrel Cleaning by Graham Freeman

Interesting stuff, thanks guys. I'd always assumed since the FT guns were originally uprated 10M match guns that the barrels would be the same. I wonder why they go to the trouble to plate the Hunter and FT guns. There could be only two high-level reasons to my mind; either it's due to the higher ve...

Re: Barrel Cleaning by Graham Freeman

What solvent do you use Adam? Hi Bob. In terms of jollop to soak a pullthrough with I've tried the following over the years: normal mineral gun oil, WD40 :o , pellet lube (basically thin mineral oil), white spirit and Ballistol. I was very careful with the white spirit because I can see how it coul...

Re: Barrel Cleaning by Graham Freeman

To my knowledge Steyr barrels are internally nickel plated not chromed. I'm sure what Robin posted is totally right... for 10M match guns at 5.5ft.lbs. However up the velocity to 800 fps and shoot at 50m and it is a different story. Barrels and pellets vary but most top FT shooters agree that most F...

Re: Can anyone identify this rile pls?

It isn't a Paratrooper Repeater, but my guess is the "Sniper Repeater". The same break barrel action came in two stock styles: the Paratrooper had a military style pistol grip stock and the Sniper a more traditional wooden stock like that. Both were available with and without the repeater mechanism ...
