Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
Try a follow through hold and a target grip (letting go with the thumb and little finger). This may help with your score. Kind regards, Phil Just sent in my Fifth Round Scores - they are significantly better than my previous four rounds. Thank you Phil for your advice that, coupled with a bit of re...

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
It's strange how things turn out. As I send in my fourth round scores, my average seems to be going down, not in the other "up" direction. So I seem to be getting worse with practise. So I resign myself to have already had my best score, barring miracles, and try to be delighted that I am, at least,...

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
I have never shot at ten yards, but I am surprised that I should be able to expect the same (ish) score as at six yards. Both single handed? I must see how far my garage is end to end, I might be able to squeeze 9 and a bit yards out of it! Might try to shoot round 3 this weekend. Try out my new met...

Re: Non-crackle finish Walther LP53
Nice pistol. Looks verrry similar to mine, although my serial number is older (009437) and mine has a brown grip, not a black one.
How can you tell the trigger is adjustable, mine looks identical?

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
Just sent in my round 2 scores. Seemed to do a little better, but still in no danger of bothering those at the top of the scale! I think I'll be in my own group - see if I can improve with every round. I need to work on my concentration, the best cards are numbers 1-3 then Iose it for 4 and 5 before...

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
All fair points. I'm all for not overcomplicating things. I think I'd like to reserve judgement on whether to keep to the same gun or change it depending how I do in the first round!! It is not an over exaggeration to say that I am keenly looking forward to the results. Which reminds me, I must get ...

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
Zooma - I'm up for an LP53 contest! pmh - so a score based division would reflect the ability of contestants on any given pistol? I know my score would be up by a great margin if I swapped my vintage spring LP53 for my vintage SSP Compact for instance. Or down by an even greater margin if I used my ...

Re: 6 Yard MPL Postal Competition - Season 1 Entrants
I'm all for fair divisions. Are the divisions to be based on gun type? I.E. Target SSP, Target Spring, Vintage spring etc? Or will it be solely score based going on the first round. I can see the advantages of the former more than the latter in a fair competition of this type. Ultimately, I am just ...

Re: Shot my first card today.
Ha! I'm glad we all have a similar problem. My garage has a large skylight, but I still aim the headlamp of my bicycle onto the targets. Makes it so less straining on my eyes. I also seem to be better with glasses rather than contacts, but that could just be because I tend not to blink as I aim, and...

Another season?
Why not - I think I've got the best out of my gun and the situation now.
That was fun!

Re: Diana Model 2 Tinplate Pop-Out
If we both take a second entry to the 6 yard MPL competition to shoot our old Diana pop-outs against each other, we will both have plenty of unspoiled target to practice with in the future! :D True, but I will have many, many more holes in my garage wall and smashed windows to boot! Now if we were ...

Re: Diana Model 2 Tinplate Pop-Out
Nice pistol, not seen one like that before.
My Mum's one has a wooden grip and is more common on the web than that one.
Entering it in the MPL??

Re: What Was Your First Air Pistol?
We always shot air guns since I was a nipper. My Brothers were ten years older than me and I remember them shooting BSA Meteors and two pre-war BSA underlevers in .177 and .22 (Twaangggg!). The Meteor had a cheap scope and you could thread a Polo at ten yards (Our limit of garden length), or light S...

Re: Season 1 - Round 6
Just shot my final round. Scores inbound!
Not my worst round either.
Now I can put my BSA Scorpion to bed for a bit while I concentrate on my .177 guns for the MPL.
