Re: Webley Mark I Pistol Barrel Extensions
Hi Very interesting thread. I noticed a rather long barrel extension (5mm) on a very early post-war Mk 1 pistol of mine (pre-war breech plug legend) in 177 calibre in a post I made on this forum last June. Batch number is 932 in very small figures. These long barrel extensions do not seem to occur o...

Re: Pre-war Webley Junior pistol questions
Hi Mark Many thanks for sharing the details of your pre-war Webley Junior air pistol with us. I have added them to my database. The British patent number should be 219872. I think Brian has given you all the necessary details concerning your pistol but if you want to pursue this further then the boo...

Re: An unusual Webley Mark I
Hi Leonard I agree with Brian, and also suspect this to be an early US export model. With regard to model variations by serial number I have an on-going database recording such things but unfortunately it sheds no further light on this particular change, and all I can confirm is that the introductio...

Re: Further pre-war Webley Junior pistol details
Hi Brian Many thanks for your reply, and apologies for this late offering but I have been rather busy and also caring for two sick dogs - they now seem to be over it thankfully. Webley Junior research now really needs to concentrate on the first 6,000 serial numbers, or thereabouts, but data is hard...

Further pre-war Webley Junior pistol details
Originally posted with additions and slight differences as a reply in another place at about 2200 BST yesterday Hi It would appear that there are a number of variations in the inscriptions on the Junior pistol. Although at first glance they may appear the same they are in fact not. Gordon Bruce giv...

Re: Pre-war Junior musings
Hi Brian, Thanks very much for your help in putting the gist of this post on another forum. I have been watching that thread and have tried to reply to it with more details three times in about the last 15 hours but apparently my post has to be moderated. I will re-post the extra details from my rep...

Pre-war Junior musings
While doing some research on the pre-war Junior pistol I have been a little confused by some apparently conflicting data in Bruce’s book on Webley air pistols. The text states that serial manufacture of this model commenced before the end of 1928 (page 43), and that manufacture was halted in 1939 du...

Re: Nice early post war Senior
Hi Hamish Many thanks for posting the extra photos including the batch number on this pistol. Although a bit misaligned and further apart the figures of the batch number on the front face of the spring guide flange do indeed seem to be smaller in size than usual and perhaps about the same size as on...

Re: Nice early post war Senior
Hi Hamish Really nice pistol which, judging by the breech plug warning, would seem to be a contemporary of my early post-war Mk 1 described in an earlier post. Very interesting also to hear of the background to your pistol, particularly the approximate date of purchase, which would seem to confirm t...

Re: Slightly unusual Mk 1 pistol
Hi Brian – Many thanks for your post. Yes, this pistol is very crisp, just a few odd minor marks here and there and a little wear in the usual places on the air cylinder - I would say it has had very little use. I have been looking again at Bruce’s book on Webley air pistols, and noticed a few inter...

The pics seem to be OK.
Any comments welcome - ATB Chris S.

Re: Slightly unusual Mk 1 pistol
Hi Certus Many thanks for your comments - this is also my present thinking. Bruce on p71 notes that some of the post war modifications to Mk 1 pistols were at the stage of being introduced when WW2 broke out, although he doesn't say which of the mods they were - this might have extended to producing...
