Re: Rare Webley Pellet Tin
Hi Brian, I have only seen these included in 1971 Webley price lists but then I have not seen lists either side, I.e. 1970 and 1972. It could therefore be possible the tins were available for longer than just the one year. Does anyone on this forum know of a Webley list from this era? Kind regards, JM

Re: Vintage Diana Pellet Tin
Hi Gab,
These are included in my 1962-63 Milbro catalogue alongside boxes and tins of Milbro Caledonian, so this was probably the point of crossover between the two brand names, as I believe the Diana tins were available during the 1950s.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
John

Re: Nice early post war Senior
Hi Hamish, If your box came with the 'crocodile' style background to the label, which is common to boxed Webley Juniors, I would estimate date at around 1950. When I originally researched the styles of labels on post war Seniors, I thought the crocodile pattern was the first but subsequent informati...

Re: Webley MKIII Rifle ''Smoothbores''
Thank you Brian and Bellringer - glad to help share the little knowledge I have with other collectors. A smoothbore Mark 3 was recently sold by a well known gunshop on the south coast - I dithered a little too long and now wish I had taken the plunge! A smoothbore Webley Senior or Mark I pistol woul...

Re: Nice early post war Senior
Hi Hamish, Good advice from Brian. During the 1930s, Webley used a Z shaped partition in their boxes, which was simply designed to hold the pistol in place within the box. The rectangular compartment was pretty much intended to do the same. Not sure if you're aware but there were 4 variations of box...

Re: Webley MKIII Rifle ''Smoothbores''
Interesting to read the reference to .25 Mark 3s as these were never advertised to the best of my knowledge. I know of one .25 version but understand that was an owner modification rather than an original factory item. Apparently the modifier made a mess of the transfer port when he tried to increas...

Re: Beatall Pellets
Hi, Lanes were indeed the manufacturers of the Beatall brand. It was first introduced during the 1930s and advertised by A G Parker & Co amongst others. Pre war tins and boxes mentioned the pellets' suitability for BSA air rifles. I recall buying my very first box of pellets in around 1978 from an e...

Re: Lightning, Webley and Champion Pellet Boxes
Hi, This is my first post on this forum, so please be gentle with me! The Webley boxes were made in several styles before WW2 and this particular type of box was advertised during the early to mid 1930s, just before the rectangular tins took over in fact. A very nice item to own as unlike the tins, ...
