Re: FAS 6004 - arrival imminent.
There is more than enough meat there Ian and frankly, if it is stripped a Helicoil would be the best answer. For instance, a 3mm Helicoil in aluminium is far stronger than a 3.5mm thread in the same aluminium, so there is another alternative solution Mick. Just FYI Ian my group was around the Five r...

Re: FAS 6004 - arrival imminent.
So, last Thursday evening we had the pleasure of trying out a FAS6004 down at the club. Ken from Manchester Airguns brought it down for our appraisal and, well, just a general play about. As Mr Jones has said, it shoots wonderfully. I shot a great group (you are just going to have to believe me - OK...

A Brace of MkI's
So, I now have a pair of them, a .177 and a .22 cal. Yes, they are both cosmetically challenged but this situation will change shortly  Very interesting both. I forgot to get the serial numbers before I locked the workshop up - I will get them tomorrow. Let's just get right down to it: http...

Re: Incompetent airgunsmith + bad advice = one dead airgun.
Sad to hear that Russell. All too common a story I am afraid. I just wonder what is wrong with these people - What are they thinking? And more importantly and to my continued confusion - How do they keep on getting the work? I have had a number of jobs in to put right from the same person so you fri...

Re: Radar
I must say that it does look promising with plenty of features and Bluetooth remote operation from a smartphone. No doubt Import duties will make it prohibitively expensive but it just shows how far things have come. I remember reading an anecdotal story about Robert Watson-Watt, the inventor of wha...

Re: Bill's Walther Spares and Repairs
Sadly, as we all know, Bill passed away last year.
I am however happy to announce that Protek Supplies: http://www.proteksupplies.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; bought up all of Bills remaining stock and I have always had good service from Vic.

Re: Incompetent airgunsmith + bad advice = one dead airgun.
Just on a similar theme, I have a Model 10 to take apart later for exactly this type of repair. I will take some pics and let people see just what a lovely system this is.

Re: Incompetent airgunsmith + bad advice = one dead airgun.
I cannot believe some people's lack of cleanliness. I have personally taken delivery of modified pistons on behalf of customers only to find the innards of the piston was full of swarf from the machining process. And these are well known "tuners". Pretty staggering really. And that the guy won't jus...

Some things are beyond words
Some days you face things that just leave you speechless, this was one of those occasions. I received a call asking me to take a look at a "problem". This is a Chinese QB78 air rifle, or most of it, I have taken the stock off. Notice anything? http://immersible.co.uk/capaimages/78/78-01.jpg Notice a...

Re: Firing Erratically
Yes, you are right, the snag is there is not enough of the barrel to re-crown it if I turned off the "modification" and this is the end of the barrel that is choked so if I cut it it and crowned it it would lose the choke. <sigh> This was the other job in yesterday, the chap said it was leaking from...

Firing Erratically
Se, I get a gun to repair. "Firing Erratically" says the customer. I take a look. I am not sure it is an original "suppressor", so I remove it. http://immersible.co.uk/guns/gamo-01.jpg http://immersible.co.uk/guns/gamo-02.jpg Left me a bit speechless to be honest. I think the answer is to replace th...

My first Air Rifle
I am very pleased that today I have taken possession of what was my very first "real" air rifle. A Diana Model 15. Pressed Tinplate and a stock only a youth could love but a terrific thing. Someone has repaired bits of it with what best can be described as Meccano but give me a couple of weeks with ...

Re: Dukinfield Airgun Club
Alf has found new premises and the new club (well actually the old club but at it's new home) will be opening in two weeks time at the Stockfield Mill Stockfield Road Chadderton Oldham OL9 9EW Alf has invested a substantial sum of money in the new place and I wish him and his members well there. The...
