Re: Webley Mark I Pistol Barrel Extensions
From the responses thus far received, it would appear that the post war Mark I pistols could have any one of six barrel extension lengths - 1 mm, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, or 5.5 mm. Even with the limited number of responses, clearly, there is absolutely no corelation of the batch numbers to the bar...

Webley Mark I Pistol Barrel Extensions
I recently purchased a post-war Webley Mark I pistol, in very nice condition, and in it's original box. When checking out the gun, I noticed that the muzzle end of the barrel extended quite a distance past the barrel pivot block, so, I dug out my other two boxed Mark I pistols and compared them to t...

A Very Special 1923 BSA.
This air rifle is a 1923 BSA Standard, "S" prefix "giant", in .22 cal. It is fitted with a BSA No. 22 fold down rear aperture sight that has been modified to allow the fitting of different aperture sizes. Those familiar with these fine old BSAs may recognize that what I have just described is not a ...

How common is this variant of the post war Webley Junior box
I've seen a lot of boxed Juniors over the past few decades, but this is the first that I have seen with a light gray textured covering. A picture of a Junior box lid, with what appears to have the same, very light colored covering can be seen in the Webley Air Pistols book, by Gordon Bruce, on page ...

Re: Webley Box
An outstanding job, Wes - very well done.
Especially since you didn't even have one of the original boxes to use as a pattern.

Acvoke with plastic trigger??
In an e-mail response, I was told of an Acvoke, bearing serial number 19902 which had a plastic trigger.
Has anyone else ever encountered such an anomaly?
The above gun was described as being in excellent condition, and did not appear to have ever been modified.

Re: Acvoke musings.
Interesting indeed with regard to the patents. Based on dates of manufacture, it would appear that the Tell 2 (1925 - 1940) was the first of the group, followed by the Acvoke (1946 - 1956), and very closely followed by the Thunderbolt Junior (1947 - 1949). Not sure how the war affected the patent la...

Re: Acvoke musings.
Hi Brian, Thank you for your response. Your thread on the AGBBS was one of the online sources that I read in my quest for more info on the Acvoke. A lot of interesting info there. I never really looked that closely at the Acvoke that I have had for decades, until I got the second one, which turned o...

Acvoke musings.
Earlier in the year I managed to add a second Acvoke to my collection, and at the time, just placed it in storage alongside my much earlier acquisition. Just recently, I was trying to decide whether to sell one of the guns off, keeping the better of the two, but soon realized that the two had a few ...

Re: Pre-war Webley Junior pistol questions
Hi Chris, I posted the serial numbers and other requested details for my two pre-war Juniors over on the AGBBS, but I somehow missed your request for "other documentary/anecdotal evidence". So, a bit of additional info on SN J121: http://www.network54.com/Forum/681456/message/1404001745/Earliest+kno...

Re: An unusual Webley Mark I
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your thoughts on the Mark I.
So, a 2nd to 3rd series transitional gun it is.
Thanks to all for their input.

My latest vintage Webley acquisition
A very nice 3rd series Mark I with etched patent info, in it's original box. http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu212/G-380/Vintage%20Airgun%20Gallery%20Pics/EtchedMkI-01.jpg http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu212/G-380/Vintage%20Airgun%20Gallery%20Pics/EtchedMkI-02.jpg http://i649.photobucket.com...

Re: An unusual Webley Mark I
Hi Brian, Thank you for your thoughts on the gun. I had one e-mail response that described this Mark I as a "very late 2nd series", and suggesting that "the addition of the trigger adjust screw did not immediately define it as a 3rd series gun". He went on to state that "the serial numbers for the 3...
