Re: Is this Junior for sale in good shape? With pic.
Hi, Post-war Webley Juniors in similar condition to the one in the photograph are quite common in the UK and would normally sell for £40-£60. I wouldn't consider it to be in 'collectable' condition, but it might do until a better example comes along. You are probably already aware that post-war Webl...

Re: MK2 Target Grip Sizing
Hi, Glad you were able to source an original Senior grip plate which should be directly interchangeable with the Mk2 Target. I would be interested in the Ser No of your Mk2 when you receive it. Mine is a second series Ser No 24588 with the small screw retaining the barrel latch rather than a pin. Th...

Re: MK2 Target Grip Sizing
Hi, Although I didn't actually swap the grips themselves, Iv'e just done a side by side comparison of the two models and taken a few measurements. It seems to me that the grips from the Straight Grip Senior and the Mk2 Target are identical and should be interchangeable. Obviously, original undamaged...

Smith & Wesson 78G Pistol
I picked up this Smith & Wesson 78G at the recent Imperial meeting at Bisley and have just given it a test fire to see how it performs. The 78G is based on the old Smith & Wesson 41 .22 LR pistol I can remember shooting before the breech loading pistol ban in 1995. Although single shot, the weight, ...

Re: Pre-War Slant "Senior"
Hello Ray,
Nice collection of Seniors. I must admit to a preference for the pre-war Senior due the absence of barrel knurling and the slimmer and consequently more elegant trigger shape.

Hello David,
One of my favorite pre-war Webley air pistols, especially as this model brought the introduction of the additional cocking link making cocking so much easier than with the Mk1.

Re: Webley 'Weaman Street' Pellet Tin
Hi, Your pellet tin is in fact a pre-war tin as it has the Weaman Street address and refers to "Rifle" rather than "Rifles". Webley only had the Mk2 Service in production at the time hence the singular reference. Incidentally, the green .177 version of this tin is quite a lot harder to find than the...

Re: Pre War Webley & Scott
Hello Will, Just had a look at the Penrhyn Castle link and the lovely locomotives you are lucky enough to be involved in preserving. As I get older, I find older things such as cars, aircraft and guns etc more attractive and interesting than their modern counterparts. As far as restoration goes in t...

Re: Pre War Webley & Scott
Sorry , the serial number is 56409 thanks. Hello Will, Webley introduced the so called 'Slant Grip' Mk1 in 1935 at around Ser No 50,000 and continued its manufacture up until the outbreak of war in 1939. A total of around 65,000 'Straight Grip' and 'Slant Grip' Mk1s were produced with 15,000 or so ...

Re: Holts Auctions
Hello Graham, The first series Highest Possible had smooth horn grips, and a dovetailed rear sight, adjustable for windage only. This was eventually replaced around Ser No 200 by a curved sight blade that slid upwards in a similarly curved block to give vertical adjustment, the blade being retained by...

Re: A Newbie's dream pistol list to acquire
Hello, The ABAS Major exhibits similar muzzle velocities to the larger Webley pistols around 390 ft/sec with a 7.6 grn pellet, so about 2.8 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. I like it for its unusual, underllever cocking method and tap loading system. The ABAS is one of only three air pistols I know of that ...

Re: Mk 11 Target
Hi Ray, Glad you received your collection of Webley air pistols OK. It's often difficult to judge the the cosmetic condition of items from photographs alone, but provided there is only surface rust present things can usually be improved as in your case. It's been my experience that pistols fitted wi...

Re: Is there a price differential between .177 & .22
Hi Ray, Congratulations. That little lot should keep you quiet for a while! The Mk2 Target and the Pre-War 'Slant-Grip' Senior sound the most Interesting. Look forward to seeing some pictures when you get the chance. It would also be useful if you would be willing to share the Ser Nos of the Pre-War...
