Lets Go !

I have ordered the first bulk batch of Air 8 pistol targets, so they should be here any day now and I had previously bought some Air 8 targets so we are more or less ready to get started.

We will test the rules and make sure everything works well enough tonight at RMTC, and I will let Phil have a target holder that we have recently bought so he can do a CAPA review on it. This trap can be simply hung on a simple screw in the wall ( 1.4 meteres from the floor) and removed just as quickly.

The steel case is galvanised so it should last for many years, and the special feature about it is the swinging plate inside that hangs behind the target and acts like a ballistic sledge taking all the energy out of the pellet as it hits it after passing through the target - so it should be very safe and help prevent any rebounds.

We will also have these target holders available for purchase if anyone would like to buy one - although most of you may already have a suitable target holder already.(?).

I don't have such a target holder, usually holding my targets onto a steel plate with magnets, so I am looking forward to having a play with this compact design one, and am hoping to post pics soon.

I have an A4 practice target already prepared, which I'll post soon, though it may be best to practice under "competition conditions" for the best effect.

Kind regards,

Phil

I have one of those steel funnel target holder pellet trap contraptions which is pretty effective but bulky - I would be interested to see what these are like as they sound more compact

A very successful trial and an excellent target holder. Much easier to use than the funnel tips and far more flexible to use as it can free stand or be hung.

I now have it in my possession and will post a review as soon as the weather changes and I can put it to use outside.

Kind regards,

Phil

Go for it Phil - your idea of an inexpensive internal lighting system is superb too.

With your internal lighting idea fitted the trap would be very flexible for outdoor use in daylight, or for indoor use in any lighting conditions.

The trap definitely worked well and did what it should - probably better than any others tested over the years - and its heavy (read strong) construction with a galvanised finish could make it capable of out-living us all!

......... pleasantly surprised....................

.........also a bit relieved the Air 8 targets worked-out OK - and that they fitted well into the target trap we were testing tonight as well.

A successful evening as far as the 6 yard series goes :D

........shame we might need to ban Grahams FAS as it seems to have some sort of homing device fitted to it

Some Air 8 targets were test shot tonight at RMTC to the new 6 yard MPL rules and everything worked just fine.

This will be a really good fun competition that anyone can enjoy without needing expensive equipment - we already have entries from those who will be shooting a range of affordable pistols from Webleys to Walthers - and I bet they will really enjoy themselves.

The only result that counts is your own, so your main competitor will always be yourself - but it is always nice to see how everyone else is getting on, and interesting to see what pistols and pellets they are using.

Anyone who has not already grabbed an entry pack can do so right now online - so go for it and have some fun with your air pistol this summer and look forward to the winter series that will follow it.

Well, it's the first of June and a bright sunny day. Think I might just wander down to the bunkhouse and shoot a few!

Another new shooter has joined the series this morning - lets hope we get a few more - late entries will be accepted at any time - we want as many shooters in this competition as possible.

...........AND ANOTHER!

Simon Hardman - Burnley.
Steve Wilson - Worthing.
