Schimel Co2 Pistol.
Hello,
Some pictures of a nice boxed, 1954, single shot .22 pellet firing Schimel GP22 Co2 pistol I picked-up at the recent Trafalgar meeting at Bisley.
The Schimel was obviously strongly based on the German Luger pistol and is credited with being the first gas powered pistol to use disposable capsules.
As with most Co2 powered pistols, it's very powerful and surprisingly accurate.
Regards
Brian

Yes, one of the best, and the nice thing is you can get spares for them. Think I saw you buy the one at Bisley. Two of mine are on the Schimel website in the States. Sold one, but gingernut was kind enough to sell me one of his so I still have a pair.Agree they have good power and accuracy.

Hi Baz,
Nice to see a couple of Schimels still being enjoyed. Mine is still performing reliably at what I assume to be full power (4ft/lbs). I understand the grips are prone to shrinkage and that the cocking lever and trigger can be a bit delicate. Still, no problems so far, fingers crossed. I have also now managed to source a contemporary Crosman pellet tin ( corned beef style) which fits nicely into the original box set.

Re: Schimel Co2 Pistol.
Brian, new grips are available and we have a stock of new seals, but never seem to need them. The triggers break when people force them with the safety applied apparently, I have never seen this happen. The early zamak ( uk mazak) had a problem that produced a white powder residue which shows there is a deterioration in the metal. Keep your eyes peeled for this when buying. The barrel must not be seized in the frame or you cannot replace seals. It is one of the top fun single shot pistols if you get the loading sequence correct!

Re: Schimel Co2 Pistol.
Hi Baz,
Thanks for the helpful information. I haven't found the charging and loading procedure too much of a problem now the sequence is firmly embedded in my aging memory. I have quite a few early Co2 powered pistols and always need to take a few moments to refresh my memory before inserting gas capsules etc as there is some variation depending on the pistol.
I'm particularly fond of the Schimel and Crosman 600, although they all have their own particular charm.
