What could it be??
A friend of mine has a basket case air pistol, which is a springer with two pistons so it's some sort of recoilless air pistol.
Which has a set of new spare seals and washers with it but he doesn’t know how to rebuild it.
If I can find what it might be maybe I could help him rebuild it.

Re: What could it be?? I found out what it is
I now know what it is!
I have been asked to reassemble a Walther LP2 air pistol that has been totally dismantled all the parts are there I am told and none are missing, and I am assured each and every part belonging to this air pistol are in the cardboard box, along with the new set of washers, seals, new piston and instructions.
What are the chances of me putting it together and getting it working correctly.
Do any of you know where a full strip down and reassembly procedure is available from?
Or do you have any advice about reassembling these air pistols, as I have never seen let alone used one of these before.

With advice from Lawrie, the piston was modified from the standard lip seal, and machined to except an O-ring lubricated with synthetic motor oil.fronteria wrote:I now know what it is just got to put it together.

Replaced the broken circlip with a new 5mm circlip with a new one from R.S components £3-06 a hundred only got to repair another 99 to use the rest of them!
Now reassembled and working as good as new.

Just stuck 10 shots through the chronograph using Eley Match pellets (wadcutter heads), which weighted 7.7 gr each, they are years old but not in too bad a condition.
This was done after shooting 10 pellets through the pistol before the chronograph test.
(1) 349 fps
(2) 342 fps
(3) 348 fps
(4) 344 fps
(5) 347 fps
(6) 342 fps
(7) 348 fps
(8) 345 fps
(9) 342 fps
(10) 348 fps.
Pretty constant results for a pistol that is around 50 years old it will probably improve when it beds in a bit better having only shot 20 pellets in total since the modification, which was to machine the piston to replace the lip seal with an O-ring, and the valve seals were also replaced.
Re: What could it be??
Great results i love the older target pistols, shame age related issues have stopped me competing with them. mike
