As new in box Haenel Model 28.

Post by Leonardj » Mon Dec 24, 2012 9:53 pm

I had been looking for a nice, clean example of a Haenel Model 28 for a very long time, and my patience was rewarded earlier this year with this very nice, as new in the box specimen.
It appears to me to have never been apart, but really should have a good cleaning, and the lubes freshened up.

Very nice, and another pistol with the Luger/Ruger lines.

Have you shot it yet?

I also noticed no calibre mentioned on the box. Is it just .177?

Kind regards,

Yes, I have shot it. With any new addition to my collection, I always chrony them, and take a few shots to make sure that it is fully operational. I will then properly freshen it up before doing any further shooting.

This one is .177 cal. The caliber is noted on the label on the end of the box, which I didn't think to take a pic of.

I do wonder if such guns were deliberately made to resemble know firearms, or whether similarities are just coincidental.

Kind regards,

I have read that the Haenel Air Pistol, and the subsequent Model 28 were supposedly designed as trainers for the Luger pistol.
Fact or fiction, I'm not entirely sure.

I could easily believe that, as air pistols and rifles have been recorded as being used to train people on gun handling and marksmanship.

Very nice Haenel. Wondered if you could provide the serial number. Trying to find a consecutive number to one of my Haenels. Thanks

Hi,

I fully agree that this is a particularly nice example of the Haenel 28 especially as it comes boxed.Once the slightly strange cocking method is mastered I have also found them very pleasant to shoot.

Regards
