TAU 7 MATCH.

Post by zooma » Mon Nov 12, 2012 9:30 pm

The TAU 7 MATCH is very much like the Original Model 10 - insomuch that it is another mould breaking design that shocked the conventional thinking!

Every bit as dramatic as the Model 10, but the TAU 7 Match is a very serious performer.

Although the TAU 7 can still be bought new, the TAU 7 MATCH is unfortunately no longer made and is getting very scarce - and when that happens the demand goes up and so do the prices.

I am fortunate to own two of them, and I have stippled the grip on one of them to improved the hand hold still further:-

.........and the way they usually look:-

If you find one for sale I suggest you grab it while you can as the performance will amaze and it also looks like being a very solid future investment.

Very nice indeed.

The laminated cover is certainly interesting and a nice touch.

It would sound odd, if described, but looks good in the flesh.

Kind regards,

Phil

The "Tiger Stripe" grip on the TAU 7 Match is laminated wood - much like the top spec RINK grips - very nice - but no longer available.

I still have the Tau 7 on my wish list. As you say the Match is no longer available but what are the real differences between the two other than match grips and weights?

I posted a good thread about this on the BBS so I will not duplicate it here, but the Match also have a "selected" barrel, and I am not sure how many of the optional balance weights etc that come with the Match are included with the other types.

The woodwork on the TAU 7 Match does not have a laminated "cover", it is cut from solid laminated plywood to give it that distinctice "tiger stripe" look.

The rather nice RINK optional grips that are made to fit almost every match pistol are usually made in walnut, but the more expensive variants  are also cut from plywood (like the TAU 7 Match) to give this same distinctive "tiger stripe" look and a makes a more stable and stronger grip.

If you ever need to modify the grip, or cut stippling into it as I have done on one of my TAU 7 Match pistols, the laminated construction continues to look good and does not loose it's good looks.

Annoying isn't it.

I don't tend to sell anything these days; though I do get easily attached to things.

Kind regards,

I thought this review of the various TAU 7 models would be helpful to those who would like to know a little more about them, or for anyone who may be thinking about buying one.

A kind offer Bob.

I do enjoy having a dabble with the variety of guns out there.

Andi kindly let me have a quick go of his Steyr LP2, and this has now moved to the top of my list.

Just need to find a few web ads to show my good lady they are only £59.99  :D

Kind regards,

Phil

One for sale on BBS with all the bits plus gas and pellets, I'm tempted but really had my mind set on a Mp46
