Record Jumbo
I have always been intrigued by these little pistols.
Made up to 1992 and designed to be a pocket pistol!
.177 overlever cocking and same spring type as the Hyscore.
There were 3 at Bisley £90 boxed,£60 and £50.
I bought the £60 one which was reduced to £55 as I spotted a missing circlip.
It is a solid good weight pistol which needs a bit of effort to cock.
The Fps is 260 so it is a short range gun.
At 6yards it is pretty accurate with flat head pellets and at the same range will hole a soup can with superdomes.
Using the light weight Thunderbolt pellets increases the power a bit.
An unusual and satisfying pistol which I was delighted to find has a secret pellet storage compartment in the grip.
Good fun and a good buy.
A little more power and it would be first class.

Re: Record Jumbo
I have had one of these in my sights for sometime now, but never got around to picking one up.
Given the number of guns I now have, I have to be quite choosey.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Record Jumbo
I know the feeling!
But I realised that the trick is to avoid ones that do the same thing.
Mind you that was after I had bought them!
I know they all do the same thing but you know what I mean.
Thats why the Jumbo appeals.

Yes, I am right there with you on that. I know exactly what you mean and the time has come for me to have a good hard look at whatever is in my collection as I have my eye on something and something else has to give. If I plan properly I will end up with one of each - But there I know what I mean

Re: Record Jumbo
Took this to our shoot yesterday.
Previously only shot indoors.
Using H&N ftt it hit every can aimed at 10 m.
Dent with the occasional hole.
So good on 6 yard targets and as a mild can basher.
Just need to avoid buying another one!

It's okay, buy another, go right ahead. Then when you get caught you can sell it to me!
Saves me looking for one because in my experience that quest usually ends up miles away from where I started

Re: Record Jumbo
Just caught up with the Jumbo question.
They were sold originally with fixed sights and a choice of grips, the most common and cheapest being chequered flat grips, followed by the more expensive shaped smooth walnut grips as on the Lux, however there was a really, really expensive option which only seems to have been given out to selected dealers, where the grips were carved with German style oakleaf carving, I had a fixed sight version with these grips and sold it before realising how rare they were.
Later versions of the pistol were available with either fixed or adjustable sights but were sold with a weaker spring (pentagon F marked) for the German market but were upgraded with a stronger spring for the UK. So its worth running these pistols through a crono to check the power level.
All the Best Malc.

Re: Record Jumbo
These are on my "always wanted one" list!
I've never handled one but I'd have thought given the size of the things that even with a stronger spring they'd struggle to get anywhere near the German F in pentagon limit of (IIRC) 7.5 joules, about 5.5 ft.lbs!
