Been after one of these Limited Edition all Silver HW45 for ages to partner my standard HW45 and Blackstar, but they have alway been hard to come by or really expensive.
Managed to get this fairly beat up model that required new seals, a service, new grips and a general clean up.
Cleaned it up and fitted new grips myself and sent to Dave Mercer for new seals and a Service.
Here is the finished article which now shoots great - probably paid over the odds for it and getting it fixed and could have bought a brand new HW45 with what was spend on it but hey ... I like it!

Re: All Silver HW45
There we go, picture added.
These are, indeed, classic guns, but have never been a favourite of mine.
I find them very difficult to shoot and do find the forward recoil somewhat weird.
Oddly enough, a feeling I don't get with the Webley's.
Kind regards,
Phil

Hi Graeme,
You must be very pleased with the end result which in my opinion is better than a new "off the shelf" pistol as you sorted it yourself.
Well done.
Regards
Brian

Re: All Silver HW45
It is a great looking pistol, and if you like it that's all that matters I did own one years ago my feelings on these are pretty neutral, perhaps preferring the bsa magnum 240 which I also owned at the time. In its favour I have met many people for whom its their No1 pistol, M.

Re: All Silver HW45
Its a Plated finish so no paint to flake off
It was quite dirty and tarnished and I used Brasso to remove all the marks and grime and it looks pretty good now without having damaged the original finish

Re: All Silver HW45
That's interesting, do you think Brasso would work on a nickle plated gun, or is nickle plating too thin??

Re: All Silver HW45
It depends on the thickness and quality of the plating.
Brasso is quite a mild cutting compound, so it may be ok with a gentle application. The silver wadding (Silvo) may be a better option, or even the impregnated polishing cloth.
Is there an area, under the grips for example, where you can do a small trial?
Kind regards,
Phil
