Non-crackle finish Walther LP53

Post by zooma » Sat Jul 27, 2013 10:00 pm

I have an LP53 that I am selling to thin-out the collection a bit (along with a few others) to raise some funds towards a different type of Walther pistol that I am hoping to buy sometime soon.

I have quite a few LP53 pistols of various types ( easy with any Walther pistol type as they are all different  ) but this is the ONLY LP53 that I have that does not have the regular black crackle finish but has a smooth black factory applied finish so I thought I would mention it and take some pictures of it prior to offering it for sale as it may be of interest to some CAPA members.

This pistol is number 118570 and also has the similarly "not seen quite so often" adjustable trigger, with the "ski-jump" rear cylinder shape and black grips.

The pistol shoots well with good power and I have managed to find a genuine brand new rear sight strap to replace the original one that had fractured ( but not until we copied it for our own make ones that we are still working on as a future project).

Broken rear sight straps are fairly common on LP53 pistols as they are tempered and tend to fracture with age.

The pistol is in good overall condition, and it has some small wear marks to show the smooth finish on this pistol is genuine and was not a later refurb.

If anyone is interesting in buying this nice LP53 I am hoping to sell it for £250 - and now it has a genuine brand new rear site mounting strap fitted I think this would be a fair price to ask as it now comes with the knowledge that it probably has a newer rear sight strap than any other LP53 of this age and so is one less thing to worry about for the future. :D

Pictures to follow next week as soon as I can get them done and displayed on bobsairguns site............

Nice pistol. Looks verrry similar to mine, although my serial number is older (009437) and mine has a brown grip, not a black one.

How can you tell the trigger is adjustable, mine looks identical?

When you break the barrel to cock the pistol you can then look down into the trigger mechanism and see the adjusting screw.

Most LP53 pistols do not have an adjustable trigger. I have had quite a few LP53 pistols and only two of them have had this adjustable trigger.

I will see if I can find a way to photograph it and add it to the pictures on bobsairguns.

My smooth finish LP53 has now gone to a good new home but I am pleased I managed to get some good pictures done before it went as they make an interesting reference that may be useful to others in the future.
