Christmas is here

So, Christmas is here and just to make Double Sure I get what I want, I bought it for myself :D
As I indicated in another thread, I managed to get myself a Milling machine. I bought what was there though and one of the very few issues (if it is an issue) is the fact that the X and y axis wheels are in fractions
This Imperial variation is very popular with the Model Engineering fraternity but it gives me a headache performing the mental-gymnastics-on-the-fly when I am trying to do some operations. The answer of course is to install Digital Readouts - DRO's and there are plenty of people out there with their various offerings but I decided to go with those from http://www.Arceurotrade.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; because they had everything I wanted at reasonable cost. Plus I had been slowly selling some personal stuff on ebay with this in mind and had accumulated a little stash in my Paypal account.

So the nice man from the parcel company (complete with Santa Hat) knocked on the door this afternoon and this is what I found when I unpacked it:

The long, 20" bar, was for the X axis (left to right) and I bought a 12" for the Y axis. They both needed a bit of attention from the angle grinder but an hour or so later and here we were:

Best bit is the backlight and the really nice BIG numbers:

This will make my life a little easier and ensure an increase in accuracy. Also, it should save me a load of time.

Hi Graham,

I'm extremely impressed with the new addition to your workshop which should clear the way for even more sophisticated projects. It must be nice to not be totally reliant on parts from trade manufacturers especially for the older guns many of which are unobtainable anyway.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Brian

Thank you Brian. Well I have been working on an LP2 today and as you are aware there are no piston seals at all. I will be starting another thread and showing how I overcame the problem.
