What is the best Webley slant grip?

A place to discuss all things Webley. As this is probably the most collected airgun maker we felt it deserved a section of its own.

Hello Steve,

As you may already be aware , Webley combined the best features of the Senior and Mk 1 into a single model called the Premier in 1964. Although the Senior is still a great pistol, I would recommend an early Premier as the best option. All steel Premiers carried a Series identification in the form of a capital letter from A - F stamped to the left hand side of the frame, just under the trigger guard. In my opinion, the earlier examples were the best which means they can sometimes attract an extra premium in the selling price.

Expect to pay around £140 - £160 for a reasonable early model and add an additional £40-£50 if it is still in its box . Any accompanying paperwork can also add significantly to the value.

All Webley air pistols are pretty rugged, but watch out for frequently seen chips at the bottom corner of the grips where they have been removed without sufficient care.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Brian

I would agree with Certus with regard to the Premier.

My favorite is the "B" series due to it's being the first Webley to utilize a PTFE piston seal, and also because it was the last of the early Primiers to use all steel parts.
Subsequent versions saw the introduction of sintered iron parts, some of which proved problematic.

If you have not yet seen it, you may find this post of mine helpful in identifying the Premiers.
