Has anyone got any information as to the complexities of buying from egun site with reference to shipping , bidding , payments etc. Has anyone purchased from this site ?

I think Bob (zooma) may have dealt with them in the past.

I haven't personally, my only experience being a German gun shop, where the deal went well.

Kind regards,

I have bought two pistols from the egun site. One was a 'buy it now' and the other an auction. In both cases I contacted the seller via the pm system and requested that we have a direct conversation via email in English - which they were happy to do

Both deals went through with no hitches - I had to do an international bank transfer for them. Delivery was quick. In fact my FWB65 was delivered before the funds had cleared!

They were both absolute gents to deal with

There are indeed some deals to be had on egun. Snag is some of the sellers won't ship "international". Mostly they mean the US so if you send them a note it's okay.
Been mostly unsuccessful so far but working at it

I too have bought from egun several times, always without a hitch.
Some of sellers state 'no international sales', but it is always worth asking if they will ship to UK - a few have agreed.

I found transferring money via my bank was expensive, so used an on-line service - Rational FX
http://www.rationalfx.com/

They charge £4 per transfer.  Occasionally a seller will offer paypal or credit card.

Further to my last post, I have just bought another pistol from egun.
Purchase made on 3rd March. Received notification that it had been posted at noon on 6th  - parcel delivered at 09.15 today (8th).

You really cannot ask better than that  :D

Of course, most Europeans speak better English than a goodly portion of our population here in the UK. And then there is always Google transllate, which can get by English/German as lomg as there aren't too many technical terms.

I always send my messages in German ( google translation) out of politeness. Sometimes I send in English as well to avoid ant  misunderstanding.

Innit!

When I bought from Germany, I also used Google translate, and sent the message in both.

If you get bored one night, write a paragraph, translate it, then translate it back, you can end up with some very amusing reading.
