Once again I am indebted ( quite literally ) to Graham , Cheque is meandering to you by 2nd class mail ( it was late and I had a second class stamp to hand , pre post ) I apologise. Will keep you posted as to pistol performance at 10 metres . I will try to be as clinical in my approach as possible.

Pistol arrived at 11am , thanks once more Graham. The nasgarc range beckons , so I'm off to give it some exercise. It's an itch I must scratch.

P.S.
Just noticed the pellet selection you sent with it, much obliged. :D

First task with the pistol out the box was to run it over the chronograph with the pellets graham sent,I used a 6 shot string and recorded low , high and average muzzle velocity then calculated muzzle energy based on average.
(1) RWS SUPERDOME . LOW :-407 FPS, HIGH :- 442.4 FPS , AV'G :-417.6FPS .= 5.6 ft/lbs
(2)H&N FIELD LOW:-411.9FPS,HIGH :- 450.0 FPS , AVG :- 425.2FPS = 5.82 ft/lbs
(3) WEBLEY VENOM LOW:-430.0FPS,HIGH :- 512.4 FPS , AVG :-454.0 FPS = 5.90 ft/lbs ( yes I know (just under when calculated with actual weight rather than quoted - pmh :D  ) )

All targets were shot initially with two handed grip and bench rested. First 5 shots with webleys surprised me 20mm pcd centred on 3 ring @ 2 o'clock.Adjusted rear sight then shot 5 more , two 9's & one 8 through centre line and two 6's @5 o'clock. H&N field next , bull , 8 and three 6's either side of centre line towards 3 o'clock. RWS Superdomes one 9 then one 4 , two 3's & one 2 all on six o'clock line. Installed fresh co2 cartridge as approximately 45 shots had been taken at this time and noted I had no webleys left and on site r.f.d. had none . So to the free hand test, H&N field , two nines at ten o'clock , one 7 @ 4 o'clock , and two 6's @ 11 & 2 o'clock.RWS superdomes , one bull , two 7's @ 12 & 7 o'clock and two 5's @ 9 & 10 o'clock. This was a lot of fun as I'd never shot a co2 pistol before and I can see the attraction of the crossman 2240 it's kinda quirky and I will pick Grahams brains on improvements for this. The truth is though I can't see me ever shooting better with the crossman than my Feinwerkbau 80 . I apologise for the long winded post , but I don't know how to post the targets , although you get the picture hopefully ( no pun intended ).

Excellent overview of the pistol, and I think this shows that the pistol isn't capable of the claimed scores!

Kind regards,

They used to do the 1740.

I think if we saw such highly unlikely scores from such an improbable source in any of our competitions we would simply not print them as they would discredit the competition. :hand:

However - this would be quickly followed by great applause and recognition of an incredible natural talent if such a series of cards could be repeated in a "live" and witnessed shoot to dispel all doubts.

Naturally the shooter concerned would be under a fair bit of pressure if he (or she) had the guts to produce the proof that they and their declared pistol choice could achieve these unlikely results, and he (or she) would also deserve a huge amount of respect if willing to do so.

Naturally a suitable "allowance" would have to be given for the pressure the shooter would be under to perform this task - unless they also had "nerves of steel" to go with their gifted pistol shooting ability.

The latest news is that the crossman has been tuned and everyone at his club is amazed at his ability with this pistol as he regularly beats a chap shooting a high end steyr. I thought I should update all who have commented on here regarding this matter.

Obviously a gifted shooter then - good news !

If he has club members to witness his competition cards then you have the proof you need to reassure the other competitors in your series that this is a genuine result from an abnormally talented shooter.

Look out for him at the next Olympic Games - he is just what the British team squad needs !

Has this been verified, or is it just an urban myth!

Consensus from our shooters is to complete this inaugural league competition then revert to our own club competition which is competitive but fun.
